Has anyone here ever sent there shock back to Penske for a rebuild? Monday I was riding my S3 home from work and it blew out on me. Like dumped all the oil out mid turn and the Tail tried to come around on me. Major Pucker moment. So as it marks its territory in the garage I need to figure out my options. TIA |

Yes do that! Had one of mine rebuilt by then about two years ago. They are a great bunch of people. Pricing is not excessive and they can custom valve for your weight and riding style. Back in the day, they used aluminum for the body of the shock. The spring rubs into this and wears so much that it can cause rupture. They will replace the aluminum body/tube with a steel one. I sent mine minus the spring and spring holder to save shipping costs. Recommend calling them before shipping to let them know it is coming and what you want done. |

Awesome. Yea I planed on calling and giving them a heads up. I picked this bike up used so I have no idea how it was valved. it Feels close to my weight but will be nice to have them do it perfect. I guess I will ask them about the spring and holders. Mine are pretty beat up. Don't know if its cheaper for them to replace or for me to have them re-coated. |

I also had one done years ago - great stuff, I want to say they sent me a dyno chart and everything. Also swapped the aluminum sleeve for steel on mine (I run it on my S1W). Good turnaround, too. |

Sent it out, its been rebuilt and now on its way back to me. Was a little more then I was expecting BUT the previous owner broke some stuff that I was not aware of that had to be replaced and It needed a new spring for my weight so we will see. I will report back once I ride it to see how much of a difference it makes, I am guessing GIANT. |
