If you think of it as going undercover at a Mafia Palace, with the goal of feeding your family and keeping an eye out for evidence to fight crime, then it might be more palatable. Or an infiltrator in the Enemy's camp. You would have a chance to save a few innocents while doing the actual job. The world needs brave, cautious people willing to leak the bad stuff to stop the bad guys. However, that rationalization is also used by bad guys. And some called bad, that might not be. Benedict Arnold was a pretty good military leader, until... Assange, the CIA officer who leaked that Bush asked for a plan to to stop the Iranian Mullahs from supplying bombs, guns, and terrorists to murder our troops and Iraqi civilians, Snowden, Steele, etc. The line between hero and villain can be fuzzy, depending on your ideology. Then there's the Hunter Bidens* and Eric Swalwells of the world, who deserve contempt and maybe a statue so the world won't forget evil exists. And I'm biased. It would have been easiest shortly after we freed Iraq. But a treasonous monster in the CIA decided he knew better than Bush the Younger, and violating his oath, leaked the request for solutions to the Iranian Mullahs sponsoring, supplying, and infiltrating terrorists into Iraq to murder alliance troops & Iraqi civilians. Afaik, that traitor was never revealed. He deserves public execution by the most horrific means used by the Iranian Jihadis. The window to stop the next World War is still open, to prevent nuclear death, burning cities, poisoned lands and seas, and millions dying slow, painful deaths from fallout. ( If the weather is "right" then India suffers the most casualties ) While the Mullahs are allied with Putin & Xi, the risk of replacing them is high. But the rewards are massive. With the free world supporting Ukraine and taking a dim view of Russia, and Russia's forces depleted/distracted there, Xi could pretty much march his forces to the Arctic Ocean. We know that China's promises aren't worth the paper they're printed on. why would their pact with Russia be any different than the one with Taiwan. Unlike Taiwan, most of the world would see it as just desserts for Putin, and wouldn't risk blood or money to help him. They also are all too dependent on China for goods to challenge them, to some extent I would include the USA in that group too. | ||

Remember Obama Nationalized the Student Loan program. So the banks that "invest in your future" could not lose money, the debts could not be gotten rid of by bankruptcy, and your taxes would be used for collecting the debt for the banks. Great deal for banks and colleges, but not so good for the students, or you. So far, every promise, hype, and campaign propaganda about "forgiving" the Big Debt, has ignored that a lot of debt is owed by "rich" families, who could pay it they chose to, and a lot is owed by poor folk that couldn't pay it back since their income simply doesn't provide enough for rent, food, Obamacare, and paying back a loan the size of a mortgage with interest rates very similar to a Sears charge card. Where the minimum payment doesn't keep up with the profit/interest of the loan. Perpetual debt. I might have missed the proposal to forgive debt based on income. That would make sense, though, so based on past performance of this regime, is unlikely. And the best argument against Arbitrary Debt Forgiveness hasn't been the fact that it takes a Dictator acting above the law, it's that it's "unfair" to people who were responsible and payed their debt. And unfair to taxpayers who never signed up for the loans they are going to be forced to pay, at gunpoint, sent to prison, if they refuse. So. There's one solution that ends the debate, the problem, and the moral dilemma. End the program. Cancel the debt by dictatorial decree. Let the banks lose the future profits and if they can prove in court that the program hasn't been a profitable scam over the lifetime of the program, may request tax breaks over the next decade to compensate the share holders. With the caveats that it would require full transparency and accountability to satisfy the 87,000 IRS agents assigned to the case. Gotta find something for the New IRS to do that doesn't involve screwing us. | ||

It was pretty clear to a lot of people, Before the Hillary Russian Deflection Hoax, that the FBI had multiple people who lied under oath and suppressed evidence that the people they persecuted were innocent. And that the FBI leaders "leaked" to the press to screw who they wanted, even though it was a felony and sometimes actually Treason. So, maybe I'm ignorant and it's unfair to consider Pence part of the problem. It would not surprise me that I'm ignorant of his attitude. |
