Since ethanol production relies heavily on fossil fuel, both for fertilizer and mechanized farming, the price of ethanol will go up too. Adding more ethanol to gasoline is not a solution. | ||

I thought we covered that pretty well in the Science thread. The best studies I've seen put the total fuel burned to make the Ethanol for fuel inside the error bars of multiple studies. In simple terms it takes more or equal fuel burned to make than you get out. Since we are talking diesel for farm equipment and trucks, natural gas to run the distillery, and ignoring fertilizer made from fossil fuels, it's almost certainly a loss overall, but it's close enough to pick & choose variables, like fertilizer, to argue it works. ( but since the people pushing it lied to us a lot... ) E85, otoh! That has a great use for supercharged hot rods. The kind that will be banned under a Watermelon Agenda. Full disclosure, I thought alcohol to stretch the oil supply was a good idea. But that was promised booze from garbage and algae. Not the Food To Fuel insanity that starves poor nations and led to the Arab Spring revolutions & coups. And your higher food and fuel bills. Turns out the best food for yeast ( to make alcohol ) is sugar, ( Brazil ) or high sugar crops, like corn. Insert bad joke about diabetic Congresscritters. | ||

Heck, I'm hoping an obscure motorcycle forum, ( good as it is ) is flying under the radar enough that when it becomes a crime to insult x that it'll takes days for the Federal Bureau of Insurection to come for me. Because I sure as Loki will.
