Error code 21 will not clear. Took Ulysses to local Reno NV dealer. They fully checked out the issue, Exhaust Valve working properly....REPLACE ECM. It runs fine but of course error light constantly on.

I've checked around for a replacement ECM but have found none, including St Paul Harley/Buell parts. It appears only using a new race ECM set up for stock is my only way out??? Is this correct

I wonder if it's the exhaust valve actuator that has gone bad. I replaced mine and as best I can remember, I had a CEL and it went away with the new actuator. If you want to replace the actuator, the actuator itself is a common part still available for about $60, you'll just need to move the pulley over to it. I ground the weld off the top of the shaft and the pulley came right off. Plug in the new actuator first, so it can reset, then position the pulley and have it spot welded. Easy job, located just underneath the airbox cover.

The exhaust actuator is working properly. Perhaps it is not sending the right signal? Perhaps the ECM is not working properly?

I'm going ahead with an ECM programming update for a stock Ulysses, $100. They can also tell the ECM to ignore the exhaust actuator. Not the best answer but far cheaper than purchasing a new ECM for $400.

I had the program with it disabled and the cable wired so the exhaust was open. Liked the way it sounded and seat of the pants power was good.

Just go with a drummer package. Have the guts of the exhaust removed then repack it. Delete the exhaust servo using ecm spy or tuner pro. Run the shit out of it for a day with the tunerpro and get a data sheet to adjust your fuel maps. And whalaa one tesla tester at your service. I took mine to NC and let them do their magic on her. Running 3.1 seconds 0 to 60. And still my only mide of transport. She just crossed the 40k mark a week ago. And I drive her rain sleet snow. Frostbite it don't matter she is more reliable than the usps and takes me miles minimum daily.
