Out riding yesterday. Came to a stoplight and smelled burning oil. Thoughts of dang it, what now? Look down... around... look to the left... BMW. Mystery solved! |

If you are feeling burned oil smell then there is about 90% chance you are riding a Buell or Harley today. |

2+HP per ci is not unusual for motorcycles. But it is for large production, American made, naturally aspirated V8s. 180 degree crank, DOHC, finger followers, titanium valves & con rods, direct injection, VVT and more. New member I just joined. I got a 2002 Buell Blast a few months ago. I was trying to not join another forum but, there is so much good information on here and lots of great people. I bought the bike with 600 miles, it's already at nearly 1,000 miles now. I changed the brake fluids, did inpections and overall everything has been running well. I did have a bad idle issue, new intake o-ring and I smeared non-hardening permatex around the o-ring also since this seems to be a big problem area. The bike has ran perfect ever since. |

Welcome aboard Ksand. Former Blast owner here. I love those little bikes. You're so right about good information and great people. You'll find that these guys are an amazing group of people. There isn't an question that can't be answered. You'll find most people hang out on quick board and also the bike specific forum. There's a good section just for the Blast. It helped me a ton when I was a brand new blast owner. Again. Glad you found Badweb1 |

Welcome aboard. . . . . I’ve been here since the day the forum started and have been riding Buells since 1987. I was on the test riding team during development of the Buell Blast and it’s an amazing bike. It has many of the handling and braking qualities of the larger Buells packaged in a confidence inspiring bike. Welcome aboard Court |

Thanks for the welcome. That's interesting that you were on the development team. The bike seems odd in a way but practical. It has great handling, great brakes. To me an odd low rpm engine with lots of torque with good highway speed and great mpg. It compliments my other three bikes. |

You'll find that everything in the Buell lineup is a torque monster. My XB12XT will go up the side of a building if I ask it to. What else do you have in the garage? You'll find that many (maybe most) of the active members here have multiple bike. On top of the XB12XT I've got a 2017 Honda Goldwing. Both make me smile but for different reasons. So many motorcycles, so little time. |

I still have my first bike, 1993 TW200. 1986 Yamaha Radian, yx600, 2002 Honda Spirit 1100, and my 2002 Buell Blast. It's funny the last 2 ended up from the same year. All totally different but all lots of fun. |

Wow, sounds like you've got the entire spectrum pretty much covered. I haven't been riding a lot lately. My oncologist raises hell with me when I do ride. I've have to explain to her that any damage to the body is more than worth the good it does for my soul. |

The Blast is a great bike. Early on, when Lisa started the project, we experimented with 2 different motors. It marked a shift in the way Buell did business. There is a wonderful book that details some of the history of the Blast entitled 25 Years of Buell . . . Written by a couple brilliant fellows. :-) |

Too bad Zane about having to deal with the docs. I hope your health improves and you can ride more. My chiroprator thought I was crazy riding the bike for adjustments when I could hardly walk. It was simple, it hurt less to get on the bike. I'm kind of used to small bikes so the Buell's weight and all is right in there. That seat needs help though. It feels soft for a very short while then I feel it. I was reading about taking that dip out of the seat also. |

I guess there aren't many blasts out there these days. Mine has been running great once I replaced the intake to head o-ring. I like the auto choke in the winter. The bike fires right up. My blast seems to have a very odd vibration frequency at fast highway speeds but I figure it's a thumper thing. No problem at all hitting higher speeds. |

Ksand, You'll find the Blast is as reliable as an anvil. I rode mine almost a year before I crashed in a construction zone. I did $4800 damage on a bike that retailed for $4700. That was on December 18th 2009. Janurary 18th 2008. On January 1st 2009 I limped ito Cycle Gear and bought a new helmet. Not long after that I flew to Dallas Texas to buy my XT from another Badwebber. A guy that went by Slowride. He checked me out on the bike and I rode it home to Dunedin Fl. (Tampa Bay area). For me it was an epic ride. I was on the Blast Forum last week, dreaming about another Blast. I guess a guy never forgets his first. Enjoy your Blast. |

It is now time to put my Buell obsession to rest. I will be selling my 2000 s3, it need engine work, a bad rod bearing. I have many extras for it second tank, body, windshield etc. Also a 2005 xb scg with a case leak and a blown front head gasket. I is to hard to find someone in Tucson than will work on them and knows what they are doing and I am tired to trying. Make and offer or they go to the salvage yard. Pictures and info coming on facebook marketplace and facebook buell forum. Thanks for all the years of great frisndship and buell knowledge. |
