I'm having a difficulty timing new 2000i igniton. The instructions say to set with the number 1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke. When I do the led won't come on. It only comes on at the double dot marks. The engine doesn't like that! Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? |

Front Cyl tdc compression. keep turning past dots to vertical line and put in center. move the timing rotor or plate to light flick on to line. (Message edited by victory on April 13, 2022) |

Yes, that is the procedure. What I'm trying to say is the light won't trigger in the proper area. It can only be adjusted round where the double dot is. |

Have the timing cup, cam cover, or cams been removed since the engine last ran? |

Yes, they are all new, and I have verified they are correctly timed. I thought that maybe the cup I purchased from Hammer Preformance was the wrong one. But I sent a picture and they said it appears to be correct. |

Double dots mean you have a California model, yes? Is this the original engine? Maybe a stupid question, but are you using the service manual? Pages 7-2 through 7-18 to be specific. Which manufacturer made your ignition? |
