Twitter obeying unconstitutional orders by Your Employees so they can be your Masters is the problem. Twitter can do as it's owners please, inside the law. A public official must not violate the law. These have. Twitter employees, no doubt operating under orders of their employer, tried to cover up their complicity with those crimes. And Twitter operates under a set of rules that shield them from punishment by lawsuits, under the category of a News Organization or Public Message Board. A news paper, radio, etc. is legally safe from being sued by people they report did Bad Things, unless they deliberately lie. Without that protection Bad Rich people would be free to sue anyone into silence. A public bulletin board also used to have legal protection, you cannot sue them for posts others post. Not their responsibility. But despotic government and well meaning idiots have passed laws to demand things that bother them be removed. The usual excuse is that evil terrorists use these services to organize murders and spread hateful propaganda. The laws haven't caught up to these new communication methods. So, sure, maybe you don't want Barack Obama's friends in The Muslim Brotherhood telling people to murder you, and organizing mass murder events at the quilting bee you like. I understand. But the folk who claim they want that to stop inevitably use that power to shut You up, if you complain about Covid, or Masks, or Election fraud, or Pepsi.... | ||

Whisper, the problem with your argument is how they control the flow of information, and more importantly, with bias. They simply have too much power to control, limit content and then hide behind constitutional protections that only apply to unbiased platform providers, not content editors. They, twitter, facebook, etc, need to lose all protections from liability. And Google, like Ma Bell, needs to be broken up. | ||

If these corporations claim to be platforms, then they should act as platforms. They do not act as platforms. Therefore, they are not platforms, or they are platforms in name only. If not platforms, then what are they? They are publishers. As publishers, they can and should be held liable for their content. No one "deserves" tyranny. The deliberate dumbing down of America is one reason for the current situation. Break up Google, end their monopoly on thought and speech. Needs, They are not Government websites. And you are not forced to use them. You can walk away from them anytime you choose. The fact that conservatives still use their services, tells me they don't care enough to switch to something different. Elections have consequences. If people are dumb enough to vote themselves into tyranny, then yes, they I'm fine with what they get. It was once said on this forum that we deserve better leaders. Court responded with we need better leaders, but get who we vote for. I agree with that sentiment. I stand up for my rights. I believe in freedom and liberty. I will not go quietly. If/When the time comes, I will fight. I will most likely die. Probably early on. Which I'm at peace with. | ||

A democracy is dependent on the free flow of information. If you are ok with it being censored, without many being aware it is being censored, you have a very flawed, and I would say distorted, view of democracy. Macbuell, I've had my views censored on facebook a few times. I didn't like it one bit. It is fascism. They are a fascist entity. But I recognize their right to operate their platform as they see fit. Which is why I haven't been using facebook for a while now. My choice, and I chose to walk away. | ||

Needs, We definitely agree on the need to fight for our country! 100%. We probably agree on a lot of things, if not most. I am a White Christian Conservative, which makes me an automatic racist in many eyes. That is frustrating and sad. And it is largely do to people believing what they hear/see in the news and social media. Super frustrating and sad. I just feel it's on us, the people of this country to be smarter than those that are evil and spreading hateful propaganda. Until people stop using their services and form/use a competing service, things will not change. Thinking that the laws will change and that companies like google, facebook, etc. will ever be unbiased or held accountable anytime soon is a foolish endeavor in my opinion. I think Roderick is right in what he said. We have allowed it to go on far to long, giving in time and time again. Especially in regards to children, their upbringing and education. At this point the pendulum has swung way past center, and is violently pointing at the destruction of the nation. Unless a miracle happens, a fight is gonna come. Prepare accordingly. Sami, I'm registered as a Republican, but find myself unhappy with a number of Republican politicians. These days I'm part Republican, part Libertarian, and part Independent. Choosing to walk away from Facebook was a good move on your part. That is the first step. The second step, as you said, is forming/using a competing service. The third step is to break up Big Tech's monopoly. Nigeria recently blocked Twitter. The irony is striking. Nigeria's country, Nigeria's rules. Whisper, But there in lies the problem, when someone is incapable or crippled to the point they can't take care of themselves, do we just let the wolves and hyenas have at them or do we step in and try to help them? I know I can't stop CNN or Farcebook, but I will call out their B.S. every chance I get! There are so many that are already addicted to social media as a source for all that is "real", that it's scary to think it might be impossible to turn the tide, except maybe to make them liable for their manipulation of not just opposing information but all information. And, you're right, we probably do agree on a lot of things, but when we don't at least we can discuss them. | ||
