Ok. Got new motor in and bike all buttoned up. Turned key on and got theft error on instrument panel. Turned off and back on and IC went through its normal power up routine. Did it again and all repeated. That's end of it for now as it needs a new battery. Don't know why I get that code. Motor doesn't have that kind of connection with ECM, as far as I know. Bike had been down for 2.5 years. Put battery tender on it now and then.

The Buell 1125 owner's manual for 2009 1125 models has a lot of information on the Security System, theft modes, and related. Have you gone the Owner's Manual information and procedures?

I looked at your profile. 50K miles on one of these 1125s. Wow. That's a lot of miles ridden on an 1125! So this is the first time you have seen the theft error on the instrument cluster?

I believe that your battery either needs professional care (a true battery shop) or you need to buy a new battery.

Our 1125 bikes ECM's are extremely sensitive to minor fluctuations in voltage.

Hope this helps...

If the battery is dead it cause that. Given that the battery is several years old I'd try replacing it before doing anything else drastic.

A new battery is the plan. Put a regular charger on today. The IC went through its POST just as it ought to. Only anomaly was no "low oil pressure" alarm. Will have to wait for new battery and see.
