no further replies necessary, its OBVIOUS you guys are so right, I'm sure in your self indulgent Trumpiness you have been led to believe that YOUR OPINION MATTERS IT DOES NOT, mommy and daddy lied to you, I will seek knowledge and information elsewhere, it's obvious that BWB is not where it's at |

You'll probably have better luck on a cafe racer forum. People here just like these bikes for what they are, and as they get more and more rare, we hate seeing them chopped apart. It's just the way people work. People here hate seeing these bikes parted out so people can stuff the motor into their harley project, people on Yamaha XS forums hate seeing people turn those bikes into choppers, people on old GSXR sites hate seeing their bikes chopped up into streetfighters. I'm sure there's a good portion of guys on Honda CB forums that hate seeing those bikes all turned into cafe racers, and that's pretty much all people think of anymore when you say something about a CB. If you have legitimate questions about Buells, people here will be happy to help. If you just ask questions about how to make your Buell less like a Buell, they'll probably tell you to keep it a Buell. Doesn't sound like anyone here was giving you a hard time. You might not think their opinion matters, but you're the one came here to ask for it. |

I don't get into dumbf@ck politics on this board - I'll tell you why we don't recommend the "Cafe Racer" conversion - most of us have already done it and gone back pretty much to stock - I know I have. Where to start? Want lower bars or clip-ons? That "manta' tank makes it very, very difficult to find bars that won't hit the tank at full lock, so if you lay her down or someone tips your biker over, you will lose the controls, bars and the tank. Hate the "bread box" intake? It's actually specifically designed for the carb and muffler and delivers the perfect resonance and air mixture - you won't get the "Keihn cough" if you run it on your Buell M2 - it also acts as low side protection - anything else will rip the carb of if it gets laid over. these are just 2 very tiny things I've learned over the years - I actually have an appreciation for just how good the OEM equipment was on these bikes now! If you can get your pegs down on a Ma Deuce you are shredding, good sir. Keep her stock and just RIDE, man. It's a cool bike - you WILL turn heads and get lots of curious questions, trust me... |

Who connects a hotrod sportster motor with a cafe? Do the American thing here. Dont do that. |

I’m in the minority here, but DO WHAT TO YOU WANT TO YOUR BIKE! Very few bikes are 100% stock, we all upgrade something, lights, blinkers, seats, fairings, colors... do what make pleases your eye and butt if it’s performance mods... |

I love how he asks for recommendations and then insults people when their recommendations don't align with what he wants. Implies that all of us are trump fans and have no knowledge and then runs away. I customize everything that I own but I typically make it better not worse. The point of a cafe was to lighten and tuck in as much as you can to get as much speed from a small displacement machine to "Ton up". Trading plastics for whatever he plans on replacing it with probably won't be lighter or more aerodynamic. Traditionally they are less than 1,000cc so that already is "un-cafe", as stated above probably not going to have much luck fitting cafe bars on the manta tank. Cafes are cool when done right with the right machine but most people as stated above hack and slash good bikes, fail half way through or turns into a giant nightmare. I've been to the street fighter and cafe forums and most are absolutely horrifying. I figured someone of his age may be more mature or open to a discussion but I guess not. I was going to say the same thing as KC Zombie when I first saw this post but figured I would leave it be until all this drama escalated. |

I ask for parts sources, not opinions on whether I should do it or not, actually received a PM about some parts for sale but haven't heard back from him |

I would wager there are very few to none off-the-shelf cafe parts for Buell tube frames ever made, much less 12 years after going out of business. It'll have to be some generic parts that you make it fit. A Google search for 'cafe racer parts' returns hundreds of sellers. That's your sources right there. All that's left is choosing the look you want and whether you can make it fit at a price you're willing to pay. There's no remaining store like American Sport Bike anymore, probably the most comprehensive now is Twin MC in the Netherlands (well them and eBay) and I don't remember Twin ever having any 'cafe' parts. A stock M2 has been described as a 'cafe bike' by some, albeit usually people selling it. If you ask here about some specific part(s) you want to track down, you may get more useful help than up to now. Almost no Buell owners have a stock bike, but if you think they're down on 'cafe' you should see the responses to posts looking for Buell chopper sources. |

Regardless of our opinions I do still encourage you to take many pictures and document your build thoroughly and then post it on this site. Whether it turns out good or bad, your findings may answer someone else’s question or inspire them on their own project. |

just so you guys know I'm not butchering the bike, I'm making an aesthetic transition, it also will be convertible, a forum member has sold me an S-1 tank and a xr 750 tailpiece/seat/tag mount, this will be fully changeable to the original body configuration, ( hopefully in under 20 minutes) when I do trips, still looking for another petcock though as the only one I found got sold today on ebay, any suggestions? |

Jeff, I think the Acerbis petcocks they sell for their dirt bike plastic tanks will fit the Buell tanks. They are only about $20. Can anyone here confirm if they will fit or not? |

I’m pretty sure you’re right, I recall somewhere on here there was a comparison, and dirt bike petcock was my guess too. Quick google search and it looks like it and worth a $20 shot I think. Hell, wouldn’t surprise me if Acerbis was the manufacturer that made the fuel tanks for Buell. |

I can confirm they're the same. I bought one a while back when my pepcock was leaking, but before it arrived I tried rebuilding mine and it's been working fine since, but they are the same. One thing to keep in mind is that acerbis makes the petcocks with a left side outlet and a right side outlet, so you can fit it on either side of your tank. You need the one made for the RIGHT side, because apparently they were designed for the outlet to be facing towards the rear of your bike, but our bikes have them facing forward, so match yours to the pictures to make sure it's orientated the correct way. |

Airtech, see profile picture will allow you to "cafe" your bike without killing any thing structural. Many here have installed XB front forks, updated swingarm etc.My take is just don't do anything irreversible and you surely can come up with something that fits your taste and will out torque and out handle almost any other bike out there. I ride with some kids here in the neighborhood and get the comment , But wait, that's an old man on a .........What's a Buell? |
