It's a WW3 novel, written by an engineer with experience running a survivalist publication, and has a few books on that subject, both non fiction, and fiction. ( but crammed full of advice like how to make an air filter for your basement shelter, and how to make an ionizing radiation detector from household items ) Systemic Shock is the first in a series, quite good, but more importantly is who the Bad Guys were in the book. An Islamized China. Sure doesn't look likely today. However, the strategy used in the novel is tracking terrifyingly close to today's headlines. Nuclear strikes by ICBM on major cities and military bases, & biological agents to wreak havoc on the survivors, which being country folk, are a major reason invasion is only contemplated by illegal immigration enablers. There's a famous "quote" ( disputed ) from a WW2 Japanese General officer that Japan knew better than to invade the U.S. since we had civilian competitions with firearms, & unlike China that had essentially zero personal weapons, Americans were heavily armed and dangerous. Thus the biowar aspect to cull the dangerous percentage of the population. Spooky, huh? But it won't be an Islamic China mass murdering the world. Xi may use identical strategies, our fiction authors are a rich source of ideas, see 9/11/2001 for a Tom Clancy novel idea, stolen and made real. In China and Russia, ( Chechnya, the 'stans ) the two major intolerant religious movements have collided. Both Marxist terror states are actively supporting Iran to destroy Western ( Christian ) Civilization, while fighting the Islamists on their own occupied lands. A cynic might applaud the oppression of Muslims by the CCP, and I'm not sorry the Systemic Shock novel's religious war won't happen with the same exact excuse for planetary genocide, but I'm betting cheering on one evil group killing and screwing over another only potentially evil group, is foolish. I'll point out what may be the most successful dirty trick in history that's also the biggest mistake. When German intelligence put Lenin on a train to Russia. The Communist Revolution in Russia took them out of WW1. For the German High Command, a big yea! But it didn't save them. Then, in 1941, instead of a Czar and his loosening grip on despotism ( which could have been an easy target,or not ) they had the Soviet totalitarian enemy, which was willing, and able, to throw human lives away in staggering numbers. The U.S. & UK might have been able to free Europe without the Russian front slaughtering most of Hitler's forces, but it would have taken years longer. Typically, when 2 really nasty groups fight it out, the winner is a worse threat after. | ||

So while anti ballistic missile systems are needed more than ever, the odds are the first sign of a nuclear strike in the 21st century is the flash in a city. | ||

As I've learned from a relative going through this mental illness, it's not as simple as the biased press says. But my relative is adult, so the horrors of chemical and surgical mutilation are potential choices made by a mature human, if in desperate unhappiness. Children in over their heads in a sea of indoctrination are another matter. This crap is resulting in pandemic levels of suicide of our young folk. This isn't an age-ist thing, I'm on record for decades that the age of responsibility is arbitrary, and The System uses a one number fits all approach because it just can't properly consider each individual and analyze their maturity. And if they tried, that process would be incredibly controversial, itself. My opinion is that Evil People are using children to divide and destroy our culture, and dead kids are a perfectly acceptable cost to them. | ||
