Bart, Exactly! That's why I'm trying to get everyone to chime in now. So, we can run dates that will work for everyone past Ski. It really is his baby. His last ride before leaving... I know this is what usually happens, you try to accommodate everyone and usually everyones schedule doesn't match up and so someone ends up getting butt hurt. I'd still like to try to get dates that everyone who'd like to go can make. It would be great to have the whole AZ group out there...  I'm OK with a Sat Sun Mon ride; could you do that Ski? I'm pretty flexible as long as it starts Friday or Saturday and I'm back by at least Tuesday morning, won't have to much time after that to spend with the wife and kids (I'm just lucky she understands). How about this: Saturday, 17July, meet in Superior at Los Hermanos cafe/bar at 1100hrs. Get group together and ride to Showlow. Sharing rooms is a good idea to save money. The days inn has good rates. Sunday, 18July, breakfast, early, and then leave for Alpine, cross into New Mexico, ride down through Glenwood, NM, and then down to Clifton, AZ, and on to Morenci. Here we catch hwy 191, and ride like the Buelligans we are up through Hannigans Meadow, and then to Alpine, and back to Showlow. Should be about a 6 to 7 hour ride. Celebrate our victory over the curves that night. Monday, 19July, Breakfast around 9AM, decide which route to take back, either hwy260 down through Payson, or back through the Salt river to Superior. We can part ways, and head to our respective homes. This route and schedule very much mimics the Tourque Fest route. Bart, I know, I know... People (Ski) has started putting cool $h!t as their signoff and I felt left out. I saw that on a T-shirt and liked it. Too fast, F**ked up, same thing... I like the route you posted. Keep it the same as the original TQ F. But there's a decision to be made. From Showlow to Springerville, we could burn out the 60, fast but boring. OR, we could take the southern route (260) slower but very pretty (Little towns). Hmm, which one??? Ski, I'm pretty sure she's going at this point. She said that's a good time of the month as far as work is concerned but she doesn't know yet... If she doesn't go, I'd be glad to split a room w/ya. Tucsonxb, Really hope you can make it out man. Keep us posted...Would be great for your Gixxer buddy to make it too. JWZ and Artful, Will the date change work for you all? Sat Sun Mon 17-19. | ||

I'll be IN Showlow that weekend... Maybe we can meet up somewhere at some point... Lemme know. Based on the route laid out by Art I'm thinking Saturday night I can meet you guys somewhere in Showlow. Just FYI - I was in Showlow last week and there was road work on 260 about 50 miles west of Showlow. They stopped me both ways for 15-30 minutes. I don't know if they'll be done by then but keep it in mind. |
