Hey all, One of the fork tubes on my bike has a few small pinholes in the chrome and it is leaking when it moves past that part, even with new seals. Only need one tube, its obviously the chrome inner part. If anyone knows a way to fix these I'm open to ideas but it must be perfect so not sure a repair is an option. May look into rechroming it locally if I don't find one. Thanks |

FYI Found a local chrome shop that does "hard chrome" (meaning industrial parts such as hydraulic rams that a fork essentially is). Said he's done plenty of these; strips it, welds the dents where the rust was, replates it for $120 (giving him only the inner fork tube obviously). Haven't gotten around to doing it yet but seems straightforward. |

FYI Found a local chrome shop that does "hard chrome" such as hydraulic cylinders that a fork effectively is. He said he's done plenty of these, he strips it, welds the dimples where the rust was, smooths it out and replates it for $120 (if I hand him only the inner tube obviously). Haven't done it yet but seems pretty straightforward. |
