Anyone know where I can get a video of an onboard lap of the island? Preferably downloadable. Preferably the F1 class. If you know where to get ANY video of the event I'd like to know though. | ||

There is an old video (early '80's?) called "V Four Victory." It features Joey Dunlop (with his unintelligible accent) and includes footage of a complete lap with a film camera (!) strapped to his tank. Even with 20 year-old tech and SKINNY tires, the footage is exciting; almost irresponsible!  | ||

How many people would buy if they could download? Also a lap is 20 minutes so the download time would be pretty long. Check out dukevideo.com or duke.com something like that. | ||

I have seen several of the videos and they are awesome. The on bike camera views of the sidecar monkies are cool. | ||

I have the 2002 DVD from Duke USA video. David Jeffries dominated and it was his last full TT before the fatal crash last yr.It is freakin insane racing. Collin Edwards appears in it briefly and even he says he probably wouldn't race this circuit. I highly recommend it. A Buell has never run in the TT. However, and Father Gess will probably know for sure, a Barton engined sidecar competed before (Erik) Buell acquired the Barton lot. If memory serves, didn't it come second Dave? A mate of mine since we were kids, Neil Carpenter, has won the Sidecar TT. Neil's the passenger. Many years ago I met Mick Grant at the showing of one of those 'on-board' films. One he'd featured in himself. Whilst we watched Granty commentated on his own performance. I have an IOM pound note autographed by him on that great night. Rocket | ||

Caught the review of the sidecar runs last night on Speed. Those guys are insane! The passengers are even MORE insane! Whoa. I have no balls compared to those guys. | ||

Just come over the Island once, to watch these crazy races by yourself. It is a MUST DO experience for any motorcycle addict. I did it in 1999 and plan to do it again in 2007, for the 100th TT anniversary. All still-alive champions and their machines should be there. The great thing about the TT is the fact of riding his own bike on the circuit, once each race is finished. No speed limit (except through towns), and amazing mountain part... And 240 turns to get in memory ! Just do it, you'll never regret. By the way, concerning the videos, I highly recommend the one featuring Dave Roper (Team Obsolete rider) on his G50 Matchless, with on-board camera over the entire circuit. The great sound of the big single at full speed gives an additional spiritual dimension to the legendary TT race. | ||

To be exact Colin Edwards, after getting a lap around the TT following a marshal at well below racing speeds, was quoted as saying "now I know what kind of machine it takes to win the Isle of Man...a wheelbarrow. You need one to carry your balls around in" Rocket, I think the Barton engined sidecar got that second AFTER Erik had purchased the rights so you could argue it was a Buell. it was entered as a Barton however. I believe it won one of the sidecar heats but was second on comboned results. These days they give two sidecar trophies so he would have gotten a first place trophy under the current rules. (I could could be very far wrong on this, my understanding of the TT rules over the years matches my understanding of cricket. I think I understand it but 5 minutes late I don't) | ||

I have been sent a DVD from the IofM on how to view the TT. One full lap at race pace, a lap with some racers and marshals explaining the best vantage points and how to get to them, on board with The late David Jeffries on Mad sunday going over the mountain, he is pasing the would be racers like they are going backwards. Next year can't come soon enough for me. | ||

There may be no Buells competing in the TT, but there is a well attended Buell owners meet every year that is very popular. Hopefully someone will post some pics of this year's event. |
