Sometimes I feel like I have my head in the sand. When I come up I see something exciting that I missed. https://www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com/en-us/models /vitpilen/vitpilen-701-2020.html It may may be a "one lunger", but I see some signs of mass-centralization and I dig it. At under 350LBS with an estimated 75 Shaft HP and 50+ pounds of torque should make it a lively urban sprinter. Looks like fun to me. Anyone spend any time on one of these? |

"but I see some signs of mass-centralization and I dig it" It took 'em a while, but nearly everyone's started doing that over the last decade. From Panigale's to FZ07's. All of them have that underslung exhaust. Don't think I've ever seen another shock mounted down there though. As for the Vitpilen, the engine's out of a KTM I believe. Should be a remarkably versatile single cylinder. |

Heck, it may be the same basic roller too https://motorcyclephotooftheday.files.wordpress.co m/2009/12/2010-ktm-690-duke-r.jpg |

I had some similar feelings when reading about this upcoming Aprilia bike: https://www.cycleworld.com/story/bikes/aprilia-rs- 660-reveal/ 100hp, light weight, plenty of torque, quick to turn in, street focused sport bike |

Love it, I am a big fan of Twins. Daily rider is a 2003 RC51, weekend bike is the 98 S1W. Swingarm placement sounds familiar, eh? I got the "fever" now. |

Without a single doubt, that RS660 is the sexiest new bike to be released in a almost a decade. |

These singles look nice, but if I get another single cylinder, it will still probably be an SR500 (or SR400 that I would kit up to at least 500cc.) I'm willing to give up higher performance for easy to work on, same basic reason I have an M2. |

I feel the same about the 660! Can't wait to see one in person. 100Hp is plenty for fun and some comfort aint bad either |

Erik's design/engineering work is all over the industry and has been. I guess flatery is a compliment, but it also memorializes his designs. |

How many bikes have OE braided brake lines now? Underslung muffler? Yep, at least a decade or more before his time |

I love the new Indians(am hoping to pick up a scout as a daily driver once my truck is paid off...) but I've just had a hard time getting into the FTR. Something about it just looks off to me. Believe it's the combo of that tank and tail, which just look like a bit of an afterthought. If they were to take that engine/frame combo, and make an S1/superduke style naked streetbike out of it, I think I'd be in love. |

I think it looks good, but I would find a way to get rid of that "thing" hanging off the back wheel on the FTR...... But I am into my 60's, so it looks cool to me!!! |

I don't know, i think the "tank" (its an airbox, like an xb) and the tail look very much like they should for a flat track inspired bike, the fuel tank is under the seat, so that dictates the shape, too. Fuel capacity does suck at just over 3 gals and its thirsty, avg about 35mpg, but there's not alot you can do about that. Led, that was the first thing i did... the "bumper" is mandated by DOT because the rear seat section is so short (same reason for "cheese grators" on xb's) but does actually do a pretty good job of keeping the rooster tails off your back, but yes it is hideouts and weighs about 15lbs! I built mine out of scrap 3/16ths strapping and reused the stock license plate backing plate and lights.

I agree, the 1200 tank looks just like the FTR 750 it was modeled after(and the Scout, which I think is a great looking bike so it's not the shape of the tank specifically). I really like the shape of the seat, I think the subframe would probably look better if it was a steel trellis so it matched the frame. Either way, it's the closest Indian has to a streetbike, so I think that's how I look at it. If they do the right thing and make us a normal naked streetbike, I'll lighten up on the FTR and let it do it's own thing haha. |
