i really couldnt tell on the ride home because it was 150 FREEWAY miles but yesterday i went riding in town and after the 5000 mile service with the race ecm installed it seems to have KILLED my low end when i first put the 12 airbox on it smoothed it all out now low rpms are all rough as hell bad plugs? or just the curve with the setup i got? 12 box, snorkel removed, ecm,k&n and d&d |

I would check your plugs first...I noticed that I had a fouled front plug after I got the Race ECM and Drummer installed. Everything kinda just disappeared after riding it for a while. I took mine out on the HWY at 3200 rpms and kept it there for 10 miles without engine speed variations seemed to help. Give it time to do it's thing, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the changes soon. |

Check your plugs as Jason said and then ride it and let her sort it out. My bike, when I got her back up and running, wasn't used to the freer breathing, - snorkel, + K&N, and ran like crap. I took her out for 10 min. keeping it above 3000 RPM and mid ride, all was well again. ECM just had to "sniff" the new air. That's what I'd try first... If that don't work |

Just the opposite with me -- smoothed out across the powerband. Race ECM, K&N, race pipe and 12 airbox... To be honest, my lower end doesn't have the stumble it used to and for *my* tastes, the bike is perfect. I took her on the freeway, let her run for 10+ minutes above 3000 and it's smooth as silk. ABOVE 3k is GREAT when its at 2500 or lower it stumbles n sounds like its gonna cough up a lung before i put the race ecm in the latest add on was the 12 airbox n that took all the stumble away |

Stupid question, I know...but they/you had the TPS reset, right? Perhaps it was not reset properly? I know mine needed adjustment twice due to the throttle not closing all the way thanks to a kink in the throttle cable after adjustment. Snorkel's out too, right? Just checking... |

In first gear I'm over 3k rpms when 20mph or over. If im under 15mph I'm still using the clutch. |

I can do 2000 rpm in any gear and keep it there steady. No lug, no cough, no stutter except when the engine is cold. Once warmed up, no props. Open the throttle and it gets going without hesitation. Before the race ecm it was ~2500rpm. It had a hard time getting along below that and either needed a lower gear or like jason said a clutch in 1st gear. |

BEFORE the race ecm i could cruise slow at any rpm no lug at all the 12 box smoothed it all out perfectly but after the ecm its REAL bad sounds like its gonna stall sometimes and when shutting down from like 3rd gear to a stoplight it sounds like its gonna cut right out n die |

the TPS is not set up right. They've proven to be finicky, and if the tech isn't, well... very good at it, that's how they run. Trust me. BTDT, got the T-shirt. |

420 -- I still maintain (as I did in my initial post) that your TPS is not adjusted properly. Your symptoms match exactly the following scenario: - I added the race kit and rode to my dealer; bike would barely idle and felt like it wanted to puke until I got her over 3000 RPM's, then all was well. When the tech. adjusted my TPS the first time, the throttle did not close all the way and the TPS calibration was off on the first read; this can happen if the throttle or idle cable adjustment knobs are loose or tight. I'm not suggesting that you have anything wrong mechanically, but the voltage range for the TPS reset is quite small. I think the tech. f'd it up. At any rate, get the TPS reset again and I'll betcha dollars to doughnuts that your problem goes bye-bye. Chris

Lets remember that this is a "Race" ECM and people that race bikes aren't doing 10 mph. You are going to run a little richer with this set up. Hence, more fuel being delivered. Learn to love you new ECM and get out of the 2k rpm range. Or use the clutch until you can. Cheers!! Edit: Sounds normal to me...IMO I don't think it's a TPS issue. edited by jasonxb12s on June 07, 2004 |

I don't have this prob with my race ECM, Jason. Do you? Once senor dealer tweaked my TPS, it's rich and burbles on decel, but idles smooth as silk (as silky as a cammed potato can idle) and wants to pull the front off in first. Maybe I'm just lucky. Chris |

Mine sound like yours Bark, but Im not trying to ride under 15 mph without clutch...If I do, in first gear, it's a little too twitchy for comfort. I do get the pop and burble on when engine braking. She's a big kitten when over 2500 |
