Insults/jokes about foreign translations of names is mild amusement, unless the parents deliberately picked one from their ancestral language. ( then some of the humor is the cruelty of the parents ) In Harris's case with Indian & Jamaican/English parents, Finish is obviously coincidental, unless they were really well educated ( true ) and very nerdy. ( speculation ) Personally I think her sexual past is a good indicator of character and ambition, but not, today, a disqualification. ( a pity ) Hillary, for example, didn't lose any votes because she kept her failed/sham/ambitious marriage to cheating Bill. ( any who held that against her wouldn't vote for her for many other reasons ) Ditto, Hillary's sexual orientation wasn't an issue, both because it was taboo in the Media, and, frankly, most people would understand disliking men when your husband turned out to be a cheating abuser. ( ironically, many guys also give Bill an undeserved pass on being a cheating bastard because Hillary is so unpleasant. Understandable, but still wrong. ) We don't need to even get into the sex lives of the Obamas, to see that, at least for a Democrat, ( or even a Republican, if they aren't hypocritical about sex ) affairs and sexual orientation just aren't issues like they were decades ago. All in all, I've mixed feelings about that. I'm old fashioned enough that cheating on your wife tells me you'd lie to everyone, and trust is undeserved. And closeted gays are prime blackmail victims. ( see allegations about Obama and Putin ) I don't dislike Gay Mayor Pete because he's gay. That he's open about that may be the only thing I respect him for. It's that he's a Leftist who considers us subjects to be ruled by Force that shapes my opinion. Ditto Harris. Someone who brags about jailing pot smokers while toking themselves, ( like Barry the Weasel ) is going to apply the same attitude elsewhere in life. Nancy Pelosi and closed hair salons is trivial in the "laws apply to the peons, but not us Elites" spectrum. Hillary and Barack's massive multi-million dollar bribes are... a lot more criminal. | ||
