I got a 2001 Buell Blast and so far ive done all this... Right now im waiting on a 99 cbr600 shock, xb9r rear subframe and front seat to come in the mail. I really liked what jet-lee did with the tail and how it looks. I was planning on making a under tail out of a sheet of aluminum and id like to put a cowl where the rear seat would be. Can i mount the cowl directly onto the subframe? For anyone has already done a XB9 tail swap, how did you go about cutting the frame? How did you mount it? Do you have any pics of the mounting? I have read about the gold valves And heavier fluid for the front forks, and when i have more money (probably this winter) i was planning on doing that. They are already flush with the top of the triple tree but seem super soft. Side note- when going highway speeds, if you watch them closely it almost looks like theyre bending towards the engine. Is this normal? Do i need new forks? With the mods it has and will have, do you guys have any suggestions on jetting (I believe im running 48-175) the bike seems like its sputtering as if its flooding on rapid acceleration and hitting around 75mph And are there any other mods i should do to really get more power and handling out of it? This is my first bike and im learning a lot from reading all of these threads, you guys are AWESOME and so helpful! I have a lot of knowledge and experience building custom cars so I figured id build my bike too. Im also saving the old motor to do a big bore kit, then i can just swap it out and have it swapped and running within a day and still have a running motor as a backup. so if anyone has any spare parts laying around let me know lol. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!! You guys are great and i cant wait to learn from all of you |

Damn, I'd like to see pictures of this bike. I hope you take a few at each stage of your build. As for the sputtering, have you replaced the breather valve inside the gas tank? There was actually a recall for them way back when but idk how many owners got it done. Basically the valve will stick and the tank becomes a vacuum chamber starving the carb/motor of fuel. I used to have to pop my gas cap at speed or the bike would stall. |

i did replace it with an aftermarket one, and yes that did cause me to stall out from building pressure, i ripped it off and opened my tank and the bike fired right up. but these problems kept happening after the vent was off today i went out on a ride to test how it runs without the prefilter, as suggested from others. it ran a lot better but definitely surges in the lower rpm at low speeds [around 30 mph in 3rd] i was able to hit 85 fairly well so i need a better prefilter, and i think the yost kit stiffer spring and new needle would help, maybe even drop down to the 46 if i can get them to upload ill post pics later |

Heres some pictures of the progress so far. I havent been to good at taking pics during the process, sorry lol Heres when i got it
This was after i wrapped it, got rid of the rear plastics and fender.
NEW PAINT! i also put on a new windscreen, led headlights, led turn signals, led tail light strip, and a bunch os small odds and ends
Newer motor swap (after mine stripped the crank)
This is how she looks this week. I already have the cbr shock and tensioner. Still waiting on the xb9r tail to come. But i want to get it running 100% engine wise before i do any more modifications.

Just did the cbr600 shock today. I haven’t modified the top mount yet, just re-drilled the bottom mount as far down and back as i could
It is practically about to fall over on the kickstand, anyone have recommendations on a longer or adjustable kickstand? I screwed some scrap 1x6s together for a makeshift riser for the garage.
