I just pulled my M2 out after 5 years of storage and it has an impressive front cylinder top end clatter. Could this be a dry lifter that needs time to revive? It had a light tap before, but this is much louder. I ran it twice for @ 20 seconds each, didn't seem to be improving. |

Had a similar situation years ago when I installed the update oil pump drive gear on my X-1. Winter, took my time, the engine was apart/not running for some time. At first start up, the noise was terrible. I almost took it apart again, believing something was not installed correctly. Tried again, and letting it idle didn't seem to help. Decided it was assembled properly, the lifters had bled down, so did a sub 2K rpm ride around the block. That solved the problem, and all was well. I suspect that will be your situation. Hope this helps, Dave |

Glad to hear your story ended well and I hope mine will be the same. I'll do a leak down test to check for a stuck valve, check pushrods adjustment and try your method as distressing as it is to listen to. Will also apply an oil pressure gauge. |

Yeah, I really had to grit my teeth and pretend I wasn't listening . . . . Good luck; given the time your bike sat I'm confident that a lifter(s) just bled down. |

What's the best long term solution for this engine with adjustable pushrods that have been dropped into inaccessible pushrod covers? Zipper's pushrod covers? Return to solid pushrods? According to the build sheet from the previous owner these rods were installed at the same time the Andrews N6 cams were put in. Are they necessary for those cams? I'm approaching the end of the cycling time of my life and am inclined to remove the heads between 0 and 1 time. Please advise. |

Oil pressure confirmed, @ 2 minutes idling returned it to it's normal sound. Successful test ride, Barnett carbon fiber extra plate clutch pack & +25% spring will take a little getting used to. |
