How's about a few views from last weekend's excellent Ducati Owner's Club of Canada Mosport Track Rally? Thankfully, those Canadian Ducatisti are Buell friendly.... "Stop talking and start riding." I like that. What DID people do before motorcycles? best, Lornce edited by lornce on June 01, 2004 |

Here's a couple pictures I snapped this weekend while waiting for my 1K service to be performed. The reflector on the bag messed up the light balance on this shot, and I didn't realize it until I was home. Due to the dark picture, it's nearly impossible to make out the nuclear blue frame underneath. It had about 25K on the odometer. This one is a drag race conversion that's ridden by one of the salesmen at the dealership.

Lornce, Awesome pics, but why the flag over the "American" in "American Motorcycles"? |

Quoting Country: "Awesome pics, but why the flag over the "American" in "American Motorcycles"?" No offense meant, Country. Just a gentle chide an inside joke and a bit of colour from a Brit and a Canadian who love to ride their Buells. The obvious humour was well received over the course of the weekend by all our good American friends in Mosport's pit area. best regards, Lornce |

Country, That's a good idea, it'd look great. May do something similar with my own. Maple Leaf on one side, Stars and Bars on the other in honour of our shared border. cheers, Lornce |

Misato, is there something you have to coat the frame with to keep it nice and shiny? |

I was just wonderin' 'cause my Bandit would always oxidize in a day or two. Man, you've put a lot of sweat in that bike. Good on ya! |

yeah.. and still more to go.. I've had good luck with it, the tail hasn't been touched in 6 months and looks 'pretty good' some polish by hand every few months should be it.. |

Misato, that's looking great!! ==my Bandit would always oxidize in a day or two== My X-1 has a polished tail section and swingarm, I use Happich polish on it every once in a while (every few months) and it seems to retain the polished look just fine in between. It doesn't see much bad weather though, so maybe that's the difference |

Misato...Your bike is really looking good. I don't have any first hand experience with polished aluminum but would like to caution you about Zoops. Test it first before going whole bike with it. I know a fellow that worked for them, the complaints were numerous and I believe the term snake oil was used quite often. Then again, that could just be the emotions of a bitter employee. YMMV |

I just use mothers metal polish on mine. It stays shiny for months. |

I wasn't planning on using the zoop stuff. its easy to run some polish over it every few months. and I do stay out of the rain... most of the time. |

No big deal, just was relaying some info I had come across. Would be nice to hear some feedback from those that have first hand experience with it as consumers. |

I have had experience with ZOOP on aluminum. It put a great polish on that lasted a couple days then corroded to the white powdery corrosion real fast. |

I have a polished tail section on my x-1 and used zoops ONCE. was not impressed, turned white within a month. It wasn't subjected to rain or foul weather during that time priod. I buffed it off and used Mothers once in Feb. 04 and it still looks great,it has been washed several times and still looks great. |

Evaddave - I tried to brighten up your photo but still couldn't bring out the frame.

Thanks, Dino. I can definitely see the improvement. I guess I'll have to get over there again and take another picture--this time without the flash. I just noticed this: The "Free Fuel for a Year" sticker on the XB9S in the background looks like a yellow Mr. Yuk! |
