Hi, has anyone taken apart the fuel tank? I was to repaint it but not sure about the filler assembly. If I undo the eight Allen screws, will anything fall into the tank underneath. Many thanks |

One note that doesn't answer your question... after the tank dries out it typically shrinks a little, and I've heard of people having a hard time getting the filler cap assembly back on because the holes don't line up anymore. I think you can put some gas in it and let it sit for a bit until it expands again then you can bolt it back on. |

There is a check valve assembly for the fuel overflow that will fall into the tank. The screw nuts are molded into the tank, so they will not fall anywhere. Be sure to use Hylomar sealer when putting it all back together. Hylomar has been used for decade as the fuel will will not degrade it like other sealers. |

Have had really good luck with the Caswell sealer as well as the Hylomar. |
