But it is nice to know the truth, even though that truth is horrible. As a proponent of the Sheep, Wolves, Sheepdog model, our police MUST be held to a higher standard, or there is no reason to trust them with the means to violence. Or to allow them any authority over you. As it is today, there seems zero reason to trust the FBI. That's insanely corrosive to any Social Contract. ( as in we accept that guys and gals are running around with guns, will accept their orders in times of crisis, and consider them to be on our side. And not criminal thugs with uniforms. ) | ||

But I'm going against my libertarian principles by admitting some of those people deserve to go to jail. Like the female internet celebrity ( exhibitionist loon? ) who tested positive, broke quarantine, then fled NYC for her second home in the Hamptons ( so I'm guessing her family has more money than my total lifetime income ) and posted pics of herself with the caption "Fresh air!". She brought her kids, her husband, now sick with Covid-19, and her nanny, quarantined with them. This is an example of the people we are trying to avoid. In a slightly less civilized day, her neighbors would burn her house down with her family inside. I'm certainly not condoning or suggesting that kind of response to the irresponsible. But I fear it may happen. ( lesser, but still brutal, overreactions have occurred ) In any case, this will ease up. THEN is the time to demand the over reachers ( Soviet dictator wannabes ) be prosecuted or impeached. Don't forget or forgive actual wrongs. But Don't over react to slights during the emergency. People get crazy, cut some slack. Meanwhile, keep your tp dry, and your anger in check. Me, between doing the grocery shopping for people more at risk, ( and I'm in a high risk demographic myself ) I'm cleaning and watching history videos, and reading my backlog of magazines. Boring... But soon I'll be washing my bike ( after the yard dries a bit ) and the salt drifts on the road are washing away in the rains of spring. | ||

The reason common sense as we'd see it is over ruled vary. The mountain smoked in my grandfather's day, and nothing happened. The mayor didn't want a panic to ruin the tourist season. ( see, Jaws ) Everything will be fine once the Priests sacrifice a virgin... ( you could substitute Trump for virgin if you refer to today's press corpse, and "there are no virgins in this town to sacrifice" jokes are older than Pompei. Iirc , Plato made one. ) I will point out that you have to believe in magic for a curse to hurt you. You could apply that to My Face & Twaddle. ( If you don't care about stranger's comments, they can't upset you ) And often the leaders that invoke magic are cynical unbelievers who use lies to manipulate. The more I see evidence of HCQ working...and the more the press, Fauci, and whatshername..Brix? The more they denounce it, and the more people push for quarantine, and "this is going to go on for 18 months", and "don't go outside for a bike ride" (WTF? Fresh air is supposed to be GOOD for you, and if you're on a bike you are, by definition, at least six feet away from any other person)...the more I think this is Socialism Without An Election. They know they won't win at the polls, so we'll make everyone stay home except our harvested ballots from dead people. Just wait - it's coming. Anyone wanna take the bet? "We have to postpone the election" / "we can't have an election now". Where's Biden been? Oh, his fireside chat shit tanked, and proved he's as unhinged and disconnected as we thought he was - all the time, not just when he's "tired from being on the campaign trail". Sanders dropped out. The rest of the Dem field has been totally off the radar as far as "election coverage" goes. They'll find a way to cancel the election, until they can find a suitable candid...er...until the virus "clears up" enough to allow people to go out and vote.
