I'd welcome Chuck's arrest, fair trial, imprisonment, and impeachment from office. That would clear the way for others to apply for the job of Representing the Citizens. Right now the Senate is much like the K!ingon Empire. Incumbents have to die or be destroyed to open space for advancement. ( that's a little harsh, but basically accurate ) It is the Nature of our version of the House of Lords. It's supposed to be a stabilizing drag on over enthusiastic poorly designed change. And that's a good thing. That very stability does make it harder to get the job. | ||

The Saudis can temporarily sell below cost to make American companies stop growing & shut down wells. ( fracking is expensive ) This happened during the Carter administration. We spent a cruise ship load of tax dollars to recreate the 1940s German synthetic oil ( from coal ) program, and at that time it needed $55 A barrel pricing to be profitable. The Saudis opened the taps, and drove the price below that. Viola! No more synthetic gasoline program. Deja vu, all over again. The big companies won't invest in major capital plants to turn coal to gasoline if it won't pay for itself and Putin or a Saudi King can manipulate the price to put them out of business. Fracking is being done by smaller companies with higher risk tolerance. But they have been failing as prices dropped. A dozen smaller companies going bankrupt doesn't get the attention that a Shell or Exxon crashing. The Oil War is ON! | ||
