Thanks guys I'm doing the best that I can..If they won't refund anything, maybe I'll just try to catch a ride with someone tomorrow night so I could at least attend a little part of it..Oh well.. NN..THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THE ICE CREAM It was sooooo good. I did use it on my knee Racer--Yeah, I did a MAJOR wheelie on my Blast..I had NO idea that that could be done. I think that extended swingarm sounds like a good idea |

You have to pick up your own packages at Lake Lawn, there is a waiver to be signed and they have to physically put the wrist band on you. Heather, I guess that means you have to be there! Hope you are feeling better by then. Really glad you weren't hurt bad. I too, have lost control of a wheelie! Ride to the edge! Dave daves@h-dappleton.com |

"...and they have to physically put the wrist band on you." Ouch, won't that hurt? Are they using nails or staples this year????? |

She definately scared the crap out of me. She left the stop sign just before me and I saw the bike stand straight up in the air. Fortunately(?) she was on her Blast because it was low enough to just shoot out from underneath her, where a bigger bike would have caught her on it and taken her for a ride onto the back of her head. She chased it for a couple of steps and then as she lost it, she twisted the throttle wide open, looped it and came crashing down hard on her knees. I heard her in obvious pain on the ground calling for me and not moving. At this point I still didn't know what was hurt so, yeah, it scared the crap out of me. Now picture the scene - Heather laying motionless in the middle of an intersection, bike another 20 feet away, sirens approaching in the background and she asks "I'm not going to be able to run battletrax, am I?" "Um, no dear." After that, she kept asking over and over about the condition of her bike. No matter how many times I told her not to worry about it, she just kept asking. Now the ambulance shows up and they proceed to start putting her on a backboard. Now picture this scene. Five EMTs with a patient sitting on a backboard and trying to put on a neck collar her but are having to wait as she's pulling off her gloves a bit aggressively as she's pissed off. Just seemed to me to defeat the purpose of the collar... She's updated all of you on her condition, which is simply put - in pain. She's very fortunate, really and that's all that I care about. I mean I still looked at the bike of course, just really didn't care too much about what I might see as long as what was on the seat was still okay. Well, all I can say is those things crash better than anything else I know of. Broken mirrors (thanks to Dana and his stock pieces from his S1 for the replacement), right front turn signal, right side foot pegs, throttle grip, front brake lever, tail light and scuffed plastic. I actually rode it home (holding my right foot out in mid air). Not counting plastic and mirrors, total damage - ~$70. Not to bad for a Buell that momentarilly had the muffler mounted on the top. All in all, she's okay and that's all I really care about. But the most common conversation this weekend went like this: Me: "How are you feeling?" Her: "OK, still pretty sore." Me: "Can I get you anything?" Her: "No, thanks." Me walking around corner shaking head: "I didn't think that bike could do that..."

I sure hope it isn't ME that's the common denominator in all the crashes !! Pretty impressive wheelieing a blast! Now that I know your okay Hellion, you are my Hero !! And I can bet you didn't go nicely in the ambulance either like Jason said, how did he put it, "pulling off your gloves somewhat aggressively", I can picture it !! Hope your pain meds kick in and you can enjoy some of the event this week/weekend !! But REALLY aren't they being silly about the whole "you gotta show up, sign a waiver, have the wrist band put on you and only you, no refunds no matter what" BS !!!! And once I get the darn wristband, do I have to get it again each and everyday, cause I can tell you now I'm not showering with the darn thing on and sleeping in it, how goofy !!! Boy CJ you are just an easy TARGET eh? Yeah sure seems I am, what's with that crap !!! Hope to see everyone at the event, they want it to be soooo soooo perfect, I'm sure I can do something "evil", which racer expects from me anyway !! CJ

Hellion, Glad to hear that you're OK. When Bads1 told be on the phone yesterday I forgot that you had a Blast. I thought that you had an XB. Flipping a blast is, I have to admit, kind of impressive. (Only because there was no serious injury though.) Remember that alcohol and pain pills don't mix, but alcohol instead of pain pills can be a lot of fun. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Now for the update that no one was waiting for! I'm proud to say that our baby's room is done. The baby on the other hand is being shy at the moment and is still hiding inside Becki's rather distended abdomen. That's OK, she's not due until the 12th. We got the news from the doctor today that we could expect a fast transition into labor. I'm going to be a wreck until the baby decides to show since we might have to get to the hospital in a hurry. Which of course makes any plans for the next few days moot. Obviously, I don't know what I'm going to do as far as the "Coming Home" rides and activities. I will try and make it to Elkhart Lake on Saturday, but it will be after work and I don't get out until three PM. (Shafted!) Becki sends her best to anyone and is still looking for a Badweb handle of her own (any ideas?) JT

Hellion, Sorry to hear of your crash. Glad to hear your ok...well... at least not worse. I've been there and crutches suck. Just remember take your time to heal well. The longer your off your bike the sweeter the next ride will be. Hope you feel better soon, Mike |

Hell -- I, too, an glad your injuries are as minor as they turned out to be (not discounting the pain at all, yunnerstan . . . .), but, reading Jason's description of your get off, your reaction to it, and your insistance on getting a read on the Blast's condition, I am now convinced -- you are a real, dyed in the wool, king hell, bull goose biker! Please allow me to quote from a t-shirt often seen at all the best places (i.e., the late, lamented Highland House) You Ain't Excrement if You Don't Limp Take it easy on your knees, ma'am . . . they were designed by a committee on a Monday morning, and really have no right to work properly at all . . . your body will tell you when you're ready to rock . . . . . |

Hellion, I have some great pain pills (my doctor prescribed 150 Hydrocodone to get me through the summer and keep me out of his office...). pretty strong stuff. They even make Minnesota women look attractive. Another t-shirt saying for you Hellion: 'If you ain't slidin', you aint ride'n...' CJ, just giving you a hard time. I live vicariously evil-y through you.... Hopefully we will see everyone tonight....might be working late however...

Usually the thing that hurts the most when you have an accident like that is your ego. At least you are semi-ok. And yes the Blast is a very durable crash bike. |

Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts and concerns..I reallllly appreciate it! Yeah, the Blast is an amazingly durable bike. When it all happened, I imagined worst-case scenario for my bike, like it exploded.. Well, it didn't, so that's good....and for me, well, I could be much worse off, so "I've got that goin' for me" You guys have a greattttt time at the homecoming..Say HI to Erik for me |

I still liked the part of the story with the ambulance..Hellion sure is a trooper..besides not moving too much on Saturday she was in good spirits we had her laughing but all she cared about was "how is my helmet"? and" did you see my bike how did that look ?"and then she hears the guys taking off with it down the street!!!! I like how jay decribes heather's "pissed off" reactions because I was saying I could imagine it. Bad things happen to good people! But hopefully Mrs. Blackwell will let me push her around in a wheelchair if she gets out of the house to go to Uke's on Friday???? We did it for Fiery we can do it for you!!!!! Its amazing how much that bike can take(abuse) and still work...I know that! Under $100 damage to my bike too.}

Hey Bads1. No, I didn’t get lost or forget about the meetings. But instead, I pull a muscle in my upper back and been pretty much doped up for weeks. So I haven’t been riding or socializing. Mostly I have been in bed with either a heating pad or an ice pack. And yet yesterday, I was finely able to get out and checked out a few local shops. I stopped at this one just off 11, next to the tracks… You have been talking about me.. My sporty is not even on the street yet and they knew that I was running a bored and stroked mill. Good people. He offered some great ideas on how to simplify some things that I was about to do the hard way.. Thanks again for the lead on a good shop.. Also he had asked about my interest in taking my X1 to an 88”.. You again? I told him I have had second thoughts.. I don’t think that the bike needs a thing . Maybe a better rider. I told him a story about a short ride I took just around my neighborhood. After an aggressive 2-3 shift and then when going to forth. I found that I had lifted the front end.. In all my years of riding, I have never had a stock bike that could lift the front end in third. If it did go up, you knew it. This just went up so smoothly. I only knew the wheel was up when I grabbed a hand full of clutch , to shift to forth and BANG, I first thought I hit a pot hole. But I’m not in Illinois. This is a new street. Ho-ly S**T. It was then that I decided I need to rethink how I ride this bike . Oh, I passed a rider safety course. Allstate sponsors their employees. So, it was "suggested" buy my boss that I take the course and not embarrass the company. This was just before I messed up my back but after the wheelie, and they did teach me more than a few things. I was surprised. As for riding? I have been laid up with this back. The Doc gave me new Meds yesterday. Far out! I can sit in a chair now. So I’m going through my e-mail at work. I felt I should give you an at-a-boy for the info on a shop that can do the frame work I need. Hey have you seen the two Buells they have in the back of the shop? Well. Enjoy the week. I looked at the weather report this morning and it looks like you will have good weather through out the week.
