I'm back from North Bay. We had a great time, but not as great as the time spent at Cayuga. The weather was great and there was plenty of fast riders to pass (or chase). K....you should have been there. You would have been one of the fastest guys out there!

I'd also like to send a BIG THANKS out to John (99x1) for sharing his foot peg with me. As you can see from the photo above, the bolt holding my left peg sheared off! |

Thanks for the pictures. Next time out, I will get it over enough to actually scrape the footpeg myself! In the picture link posted - note the ambulance and truck on the drag strip behind - I think that is the car that went sliding sideways. (or the one that was upside down...) |

aaah caboose, we missed you at mosport! and let me tell you, it was the biggest exercise in self-control i've ever had to go through and then some. watching mike and lornce go was a blast (painful one albeit) and a real fun weekend all in all. we met some great people, and had a chuckle here and there. i'm glad that someone was doing my job for me at cayuga, good catch on that link, that would have been me passing lornce

"Lornce, here is something you should see.... http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/viewtopic.php?t=15832" Hey, that's the kid who nearly crashed passing me into turn 2. I sat on his rear tire for another lap and a half and watched him nearly crash three more times.... before he pulled off to change his undies. He's a natural: fearless at the limit and really fluid. He oughta keep at it. The kid behind him on the R6 was fast but a lot stiffer. He passed me cleanly early in the day. It didn't happen again after that.... Lornce |

So I've got my foot peg issue sorted. Two minutes on the drill press and a twist of an easy-out Voila! While wrenching and making sure everything is in order for the next track day I noticed some black goo on the rear shock. Its blown! Anyone know what a replacemnet is worth? I think a high-end Penseke shock goes for about $1100. I'd like to get one with the exposed spring for the bling factor. I think they look way better than the covered ones. Oh yeah.....looks like my exhaust collecter needs painting too! |

Hey Caboose, I can't believe that much crud was hidden under your motorcycle: it's always so spotless. Anyhow, the guy who sold me the S2 had the shock replaced under warranty last year just prior to selling it and he was the fourth owner! Pretty impressive service, I thought. The newer X1 style shock and mount were installed at Claire's, even though the bike was originally purchased at Shallow Lake H-D. Maybe give Steph a call at Claire's and see what he has to say about it? With all the bikes you've bought at Claire's over the years, it couldn't hurt to ask.... Missed you at Mosport. Man, you'd have had a blast. There was an old racer guy absolutely flying on an XB9S. He pulled me going up the back straight and when I asked him about it (while we waited out a red flag by the side of the track) he swore up and down he was running a stock motor. ????? I'd place him around 145lbs while I'm running 210 these days.... but still!

"Hey Caboose, I can't believe that much crud was hidden under your motorcycle: it's always so spotless." Yeah, it must have been leaking all day. The lack of dampening from my rear shock must have been the reason you were in front of me.....yeah that's it, it was the dampening!

FYI.....breaking news......The Cayuga road course is shut down! City council voted to not allow ANY riding at all until something is done to improve the sound barriers that where made last year. |

Who's up for a ride on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. My weekends have opened up. I've quit working at The Beer Store so you'll be seeing much more of me. Hey Lornce, I'll race you and your \5 on Snake road with my Road Star. The loser buys supper! |
