You do need to look at the no longer working number, too. And it was worse under Barry, than Donald. Despite being out of work, for surgery and complications & not paying in much. That increase affects most 401k plans invested in the stock market. Percentage depends on your individual strategy. I haven't read the new trade bill, so can only go on what various pundits say. If you believe A or B or C, you'll have different opinions. Economists operate on different "schools" assumptions, it's not an actual science, like Chemistry, closed to religion. With hundreds of holy books that contradict each other. I consider the Marxist influenced versions as nigh Satanic, with darn good reason, but even the best respected authors, like Adam Smith, are wrong in some aspects, and none of them can accurately describe the reality of the complex & chaotic world. So I won't defend, or attack the current crew's policies. They inherited the mess they face, just as previous administrations did. And the President has very limited power of change, especially for good. For bad, they've got immensely more capacity, it's the nature of the system. There are a few broad things most agree on. 1. Price of production, labor, materials, energy, infrastructure and capital costs, is the major determining factor for where you make stuff. Each of those components is itself complex. I like to get paid good money for my labor, so the combination has to be efficient so I get the work & not a nice person in Spain, or China. My job for years was to improve performance and efficiency in machining type manufacturing. But that's a small, if important, part of the whole. Someone has to raise the money to buy me the tools, the materials, etc.etc.etc. And if the energy is expensive.... Complex is an understatement. 2. There are indeed bad actors that screw things up to get richer. Soros is as close to the Antichrist as you can find. But he's not the only person who is actively costing us wealth. As to who is the "real bad guys"? The Clintons, Obama, Bidens, and others got rich in politics. That's a sign. 3. Other countries also want to have good jobs for their people. And those people can be real good folk. Good business, and morality, balances competition with fair play and mutual benefit. We want our neighbors to do well, so we both can get richer selling each other stuff. Saying Trump's MAGA slogan is a lie is stupid. It's incomplete and one sided, sure. The results are going to be mixed, but generally positive. Some things are going to hurt some people, but benefit many others. "Do you mean still from the Poor and Give to the Rich" You keep saying that, but you fail to say how. How does one get rich by stealing something someone doesn't have? Do you mean tax breaks for companies? Tax breaks are not stealing from anyone. You get tax breaks too. Tax breaks are not tax credits. And, as I said earlier, the poor in this country don't pay any federal tax. How does how much a company pays affect them? (Other than to pay enough to allow the government to not require the poor to pay any tax at all. Seems like a win.) Recall that "steal from the rich and give to the poor" was Robin Hood robbing tax collectors and returning the money to the tax payer. Since America is not make-believe pre-industrial Britain, and our federal tax collectors do not collect income tax from the poor, it seems odd that you would accuse Trump of stealing money from poor people. About the only thing you've brought up that I agree with is the issue of unsafe Mexican trucks being allowed on the road. That was a NAFTA problem. I do not know whether the new treaty addresses that, or whether it was even considered. Sure seems unfair that US trucks have to comply with the rules, and Mexican trucks do not. | ||
