Good grief it that wasn't 2,500 miles away I'd snatch that up in a heartbeat!!! Wonder if the engine/trans are good? Is that frame failure unique? From the pic it looks like the tubing failed, not the weld. Is that right? |

Would be interesting to know what happened. The way I read it the bike was on the road the frame broke and that's what caused the accident. Not the other way around. Scary... |

Welds didn't break, tubes did, as Screamer said, hard front end end impact. Seen it before, I believe its designed that way. |

I’ve seen that type of break a few times before - each time it was due to a front end impact. I bought one several years with the intent of raking it for a Bonneville project, but still have it hanging in the barn. Also, I believe a fracture on the top rail would tend to close up during normal riding. |

He's only 3 hours away from me but I emailed him the moment the auction came up and still no reply, so kinda strange |

IMO The end result of this wouldn't be worth the effort. The rigid frame without the MSO would be worth a couple hundred to someone with a pre 1970 big twin. Its obviously not the right frame for the build and would you trust the stock frame even rewelded in a jig?The motor has the lightnin not thunderstorm heads, condition unknown. It only value is as a parts drivetrain for another S2 and it could be junk. Best to pass on it, seein as it doesnt have a bid at 500 its answering its own questions.. |

That's exactly how my S2 broke when I hit the deer last year. "broke and caused an accident", my ass. It hit something. |

Rear PM wheel assembly with sprocket and rotor $150 Rear hugger fender $25 Drive belt $25 Oil tank $75 Ignition module $50 Alloy side plate set with kickstand $100 handlebars and all switches and levers $100 Horn $15 Air cleaner $35 There's $575 right there. Everything else is free if it sells for $500. I would take the risk on that deal and he could keep the big twin frame and split tank...!!! Tigermann and 58mike let us know if you get any more info on the bike. I wonder if its in the registry and it has the timing cover plate? |

I've sent 3 messages via EBay and still no reply.. no bids either so I'm guessing others are asking questions and leery about titles for bike and frame. Feel sorry for seller having to deal with father's death and now clearing out his things... maybe overwhelmed |

Good afternoon all, Since this original posting seemed to be of interest to many I wanted to provide an update. I took a chance and bought this bike after hearing from the seller very, very near the end of the auction. Seller literally lives "off the grid" and had limited email access. S2 and parts, including title arrived earlier this week. Bike was as expected with tail section and tank cover in really good condition. First photo shows bike as I received it.
After a bit of work reconnecting electrics and oiling up cylinders, put a battery in it, some oil and it fired up on carb cleaner. Bad news is frame is pretty bad, in addition to broken frame tubes the front engine mount plate is bowed and buckled. I'm planning on parting at this point unless someone would like to step up and try and fix frame. VIN is 4MZRT11H8S3000737 for the registery. Picts after I had it running.
Sounded OK with no leaks or bad noises. Brakes work. Have receipts for repairs done in 2012, bike had approx. 3,500 miles on it at that point. Wreck was in late 2013 so maybe not too many more miles on it. Front rim "looks" good but haven't checked for straightness yet. Forks seem to work OK too surprisingly. Thanks again for the interest in this bike and let me know if you're interested in fixing the frame. If no takers for frame repair will be posting for parts so please let me know if there are any parts you'd like from it. Cheers, Rick |

Good work, Rick I tried to contact this guy as the bike was only a few hours from me but didn't hear back until end of the auction. Anyway, added VIN to the registry - let us know what you end up doing with it but hope you don't have to part it out |

just outta curiosity I[and bet others] would like to see close ups of the frame breaks and if a deal is struck on the Casto frame,I always remind that greyhound bus will ship frames pretty cheap..I personally would be in dilemma on whether to rebuild stock[ depending on needed parts cost vs. salable ones] or buildin a bobber/chopper.Theres alot of good parts out there for a bob/chop now ,folks needin $$ for Xmas..Sportster powered bobbers bring better money than sportster chops no question... Where do I go on here to get my VIN in the registry? musta missed it,thanks |

Peter, You can PM me with your S2 or S2T info and I'll add it to the registry - which will be updated at end of December ~Andrew |
