@patches What sort of spin are you trying to put on this? The article you just posted doesn't align with your claim that 60% of Americans are at or below the poverty line. Just because 60% of people *will* experience poverty in their lifetime doesn't mean that right now 60% of people *are* in poverty right now. |

I certainly have. I was on active duty. It is sad commentary that some of our armed forces qualify for food stamps. I never applied, but I could have. But that was years ago. Economic mobility is one of the things that makes this country great. |

https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/15232/gay-pales tinians Patches has now posted enough items known to be lies that credibility is ruined. The "tax cuts for the 1%" line is the only one I'll bother to address . It's false. It's origins can easily be found in a Bing search, "tax breaks for the top 1%" . Going back years. As to the alleged child rapes. I'm on record as willing to swing the axe. Don't care who they are if guilty. Guilt must be proven beyond reasonable doubt. Well over a year ago a buddy started going off about all the pedophiles in government/celebrity circles. His initial source was Infowars, so I was highly skeptical. Then the #metoo "movement" got going, and, well, damn! Look at all these rich celebrities who are accused. Some credibly. And look, the money and party connections between Hollywood and D.C.... Turns out a lot of the crazy conspiracy stuff looks very credible now. My offer to swing the axe appears to promise a lot of muscle aches. But, I'm still willing. |

You do realize that article is a year and a half old, yes? We have record low unemployment, and rising workforce participation. I'm not sure why I bother correcting you. You've made up your mind, it seems. The precipitous drop in workforce participation occurred under Obama, who famously promised to fundamentally transform the United States, and is starting to recover under Trump. I'll take the Trump transformation, thank you. https://www.bls.gov/charts/employment-situation/ci vilian-labor-force-participation-rate.htm |

I'm not sure why I bother correcting you. You've made up your mind, it seems. That's the modus operandi of the Left. Make up your facts, make up your mind, make your statements, repeat them over and over again, and assume people will start to believe you because you're repeating yourself over and over again. |

And NEVER bother with addressing the rebuttal of their "facts". Just move on the the next lie as fast as they can. It's kind of sad to see this from someone who often post bible verses. Not for me to judge, just noticing. |

in real world the "unemployment" numbers have been adjusted by ignoring people who have run out of Unemployment Insurance and no longer go to the State Employment agency, automatically taking you out of the "seeking employment" category, no matter what you actually are up to. Can't blame Obama for that, it predates Bush. What that means is the number given on tv is half the picture. the other half is shown above in the BLS link, and you can get a lot of info off that site if you bother. What I can say from personal experience is my Thrift Savings Plan was basically flat for the 8 years of the Obama regime, despite contributing the max amount. But in 2 years of the Trump regime, It went up 25%. |

Until 2017, rising actual unemployment was the New Normal. During the last year of the Bush the Younger regime, upticks in unemployment numbers were basically illusion, because of people falling off the list. Ditto for 6+ years under Barry. That year iirc the recession ( which Lefty pundits predicted earlier this year to happen again ) was reversing. There was "right wing conspiracy talk" that the recession was artificial or caused by the Ds in Congress to influence the election. If so, ( and I doubt it ) it's certainly true that many pundits and a few politicians have lately been vocal about wanting economic failure, if it lets them get rid of Trump. My opinion is that while a very few hard Leftist fans of Cloward-Piven may have intended the mortgage "reforms" to wreck the system, the bulk of the Congresscritters that voted for the changes that gave us the sun-prime crisis did so for normal reasons. They were bribed huge money to make the rules changes that allowed the bundled debt to be sold as bonds. Which was the proximate cause of the Housing bubble. Along with the no money down flip this house craze that exploited the mortgage rules change meant to get poorer people loans to buy a house to live in, and thus improve communities. ( a laudable goal ) While many in Congress may want a recession to influence the 2020 election, I don't see a domestic trigger, but foreign issues, like Iran shooting up oil facilities, or China trying to conquer Taiwan, sure could. Btw the guy at Zerohedge thinks there are domestic economic things that can crash the economy. He could be right, but his gig is doom predictions to sell stuff. ( much as Glenn Beck was absolutely spot on about the Housing bubble. Even though he also regularly predicts doom & sells stuff. Both sell freeze dried food units and Gold.) |

Ultimately, to get the truth out of the monthly Employment news, ignore the percentage, and note the people hired number. To break even with births, deaths, & legal immigration, the U.S. has to hire about 200-250 thousand a month. ( sources vary on the exact number ) If it's over 200k, unemployment is down. Under, up. And because hiring is seasonal, you have to track that new hire number over time. It's rare to always be up, or down, every month. |

https://apnews.com/2eb815998d3c417db731616df229bb5 0 Again, look at the New hire numbers and see how it's seasonal. November is often high with extra Christmas staffing hires. January and mid summer, low. Pretty predictable, which is why you see https://www.bls.gov/cps/seasfaq.htm |

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/12/nancy _and_ted__hypocrisy_writ_large.html Just a reminder that John Kerry, former Secretary State, travelled to Iran as a private citizen & told the Mullahs to wait out Trump. Free advice, sure, but by modern Dem Party standards, an illegal campaign contribution to Trump's political opponents. ( actually just treason, the Dems legal concept is wrong. And Treason was no reason not to support & vote for Kerry before ) |

https://www.breitbart.com/asia/2019/12/06/chinese- government-propaganda-urges-supporters-to-burn-dow n-white-house/ Chinese state propaganda outlets regularly use Twitter and Facebook to spread their communist ideology, even though the average Chinese person has no access to those outlets, which Beijing bans outright. https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2019/1 2/05/china-debuts-fight-traitors-video-game-player s-assault-hong-kong-protesters/ Is there a video game with battle in China? I remember the Jane's flight sim game that used satellite images to map Israel in detail, so if you were flying down a canyon in the game ( to avoid radar or missiles ) there was a real canyon there in real life. As these games get more "realistic" it should be possible to have fairly high resolution maps of famous cities. which inevitably will lead to some tourist announcing loudly, "It's just like that level where we killed the Ambassador's bodyguard! Remember camping the side door & getting a Mmmmonster Kill!?" . ( followed by their arrest by local police ) |

I would love to explain what Patches is getting at, but I can't. Clearly the current jobs figures are quite high. There are some stuck pursuing 2 part time jobs which may feel like the grind of poverty, but I think it's unfair to characterize that as worse than the Great Depression. I normally associate biblical references with extreme right wing politics, not with extreme left wing politics, so that's a new one for me. Yay diversity. |

Actually being upset with the economy is understandable. After a 8 year slump with most working class people not keeping up with inflation, it's similar to conditions our parents went through. Few under retirement age were working full time jobs under these circumstances. So expectations don't match reality. Pension funds have been looted, and while government workers can expect Mayors and Governors to just keep cranking the debt up to pay for above average benefits, the failed private companies can't, & in cases like Kodak, tens of thousands lost all the pension income when it was stolen, legally, darn it. Doubling the national debt every 4 years is a dead end. That light is a mirror of your own headlights mounted on a brick wall. And the Younger folk were sold enormous debt, which unfortunately in too many cases went to International Studies and Grievance Awareness programs that don't prepare you for anything anyone wants to pay you to do. Unless you studied Chinese or Arabic & compete for a surprisingly low paying government job. ( compared to the paper pusher bureaucracy ) My niece is one such. And the folk that use envy to create hate to get power can point to the super rich who got in early on tech booms, bond & stock & real estate bubbles, and have since spent millions in donations to politicians to preserve their fortunes and crush new competition. None of this is new. But it's new to people who were never taught history beyond the heavily edited glories of the labor movement and how evil Thomas Jefferson was. Or in science fiction terms... If you've never heard of "Time Enough For Love" and the Flandry series, you might think Diabetics makes sense. Or for movie buffs... If you've never seen "The Quiet Man", "The Searchers" or "Forbidden Planet", then "Sharknado 7-Vegas Showdown" or "It" might seem world class entertainment. |

Yeah, I meant that book by Mother Hubbard. No, wait... To be fair to Barry the Weasel. He did complain that Bush signed budgets with far too much debt. Truth. Bush the Younger never vetoed a budget. He didn't veto anything for 6 years, & that famous first one was actually to prevent selling unborn babies as stem cell parts. https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB115353344180314402 The media malpractice didn't start under Bush, but did reach a new pinnacle where they pretty much lied about everything they complained he did wrong, and almost never reported accurately on the Bad things he did do. Like let Congress spend all the money they wanted. Of course, Obama voted for the budget he complained was unpatriotic, then never signed a legal budget in his career as Prez. Just an unending stream of emergency, spending bills that didn't go through the actual process that would allow public scrutiny of the overspending. A good ( or wicked ) lawyer could make the case that Congress failed to do it's primary job for over 8 years, was thus illegitimate, and none of the laws passed by them are legal. But it would be easier to murder the entire legislative branch with a toothpick than get that through the courts. Pity no one tried. The lawsuit. If course I mean the legal remedy. |
