As I’ve mentioned before, I have one of the non-existent ‘99 S3T models. I went looking for the service manual I was sure I have, but can’t find it. Can anyone tell me where the DDFI diagnostic port is located? Behind the fairing, under the seat, or somewhere else? TIA, John |

Scratch that...I did what I should have done to begin with, and googled the S3T ECM location. It’s under the tail section, and presumably the socket I’m looking for will be there with it. |

It’s up on the neck by the front engine mount. There’s a hon of wires up there on top of the bolt, I think there’s a holder up there that keeps it to the right side of the neck. It’s a 4 pin deutsch connector IIRC |

What William said. Its up in the right front fairing.... I have the same year. and if you are looking for a 1999 S3T service manual, you won't ever find one, because there is no such thing. (Message edited by sbaugz on November 02, 2019) |

Thanks guys. I greatly appreciate the info. I bought a stack of old Buell manuals on EBay a while back, and was thinking there was an S3 service manual in the pile, but I can’t find it.. Screamer, if you find that you have an extra one, I would be most happy to buy if you will sell. Williamscott, that’s what I’m looking for. (Message edited by Panshovevo on November 02, 2019) |

I finally found it. It was lying on top of the front rocker cover, near the right front corner. Not enough slack in the wires to go anywhere else other than backwards, if you know what I mean. It was hidden by a frame gusset. In the process of looking, I found a few more problems. Does anyone have or know of a “trunk” bottom for the ‘99 S3? I’d bet other years and models will fit, but no way I can be sure. (Message edited by Panshovevo on November 02, 2019) |

Does anyone have or know of a “trunk” bottom for the ‘99 S3? Item 22? There are bound to be some cheaper options out there... Based on the part number suffix, any year S3 part will work. (Message edited by 1313 on November 04, 2019) |

Screamer, I responded to the PM. I’ll take them. 1313, thanks. That’s what I need. For that price, I might patch it together with sheet metal and keep an eye out for a more affordable one... We’ll see. |

Screamer, I just realized I sent two messages through the PM system. If you don’t have them, post here and I’ll resend to your email. |

1313, I just took another look at your profile, and got a good chuckle out of your occupation. Maniacal Engineer! |

Maniacal engineer or not, Brankin is a fair and honest guy to deal with, if anyone doesn’t know that by now. I’ve done at least one and maybe more deals with him over the years, and have always been happy with the transaction. |

I wasn’t crazy after all. I did have an S3 parts catalog that came with the EBay batch. It was just stuck in a drawer I wasn’t expected it to be in. No regrets Screamer. The one I got from you is more complete and a more suitable year. The eBay version I found is a 2002. Parts catalogs can be invaluable at times, and almost always helpful, but they don’t replace a service manual if you are new to the bike. |
