I just wanted to say that installing the stock exhaust is a giant pain. My bike came with a V&H, which is dead simple to install. I eventually switched back to a stock exhaust with some custom made rear brackets because the back end of my exhaust was about an inch lower than it should've been because of the position of the header and me being afraid to loosen the old rusty nuts on the header studs for fear of breaking a stud. After a couple days of PB blaster I finally risked it, loosened up the header, got the exhaust properly adjusted, cut my rear brackets to the stock length, and what a giant pain trying to get in there with some wrenches. I ended up installing rivnuts into the bottom holes, and switched the right side bolt to a socket cap screw and it made life a lot easier, but that was more of an ordeal than I expected. When I have more downtime I'll pull them back off, cut some nicer looking brackets and weld some nuts onto the back of them, since I'm not sure how well the rivnuts will hold up to exhaust vibrations, but at least for now I'm looking forward to pulling into my driveway at normal speed without scraping my exhaust on the curb. I was surprised I never heard anyone talking about it on here before, which made me wonder if I was just doing something wrong haha. |

I didnt have any problems mounting my stock can on. It is a tight squeeze to put a box end wrench underneath though. Up remember to tighten starting at header and working down to the can last if u havent already. |

I always have a hard time putting the stock exhaust on. I do the sequence from heads to outlet, but it's always much harder than it looks like it would be. In the back, where it bolts to the whatever it bolts to, there's a combination of ratchet, extensions, and sockets that make that part much easier, but I don't do it often enough to remember the exact combination. |

Never had an issue. Install everything loose then just snug everything from back to front then shake it all making it settle in place then torque starting at back of can ending at heads. |

Loosening everything up to the headers makes it easy to get all the hardware lined up with the proper holes, but the hard time I was having was getting all of the proper wrenches onto the nuts once the exhaust was up against the motor. If I had more time I might've found an idea combination and angle to fit them in. I do have the actual Z shaped bracket, and for the life of me couldn't get all the holes to line up, so I used my own brackets. The rivnuts really made it an easy process. I'll see how long they last. I may have to go back and loosen some things up though and retorque it. I thought you were supposed to tighten from the headers back to the exhaust, but I'd trust your memory on this one over mine. |
