Speaking of Lorenzo, I'm reminded of the dialog between Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi in 2011: "Obviously your ambition outweighed your talent." |

Same thing happened in the Moto 3 race...although you can nearly always throw a blanket over the top 10 in Moto3 at any point in a race. I think the Moto3 racer took out 3 other guys like they were bowling pins. Looks like Lorenzo and his BFF are getting close as evidenced by Lorenzo's taking out all the possible challengers in Catalunya. (Message edited by fresnobuell on June 17, 2019) |

At this point I have to wonder if Jorge is regretting ever leaving Yamaha... |

Petrucci is really doing well. I’m happy to see that. |

This weekend is the first ever MotoE race. BeIN Sports says it will be Sunday morning at 3:55 AM, but I do not see that on Verizon's schedule right now. I've manually set the DVR to record beIN Sports starting at 3:55 and ending at 4:50 (when the regular MotoGP program starts). Hope this works. It looks like the qualifying will be recorded alongside the Moto3 qualifying. Fingers crossed; I've been waiting for this for awhile. |

I've watched a few practice sessions... it's weird hearing the electric whine instead of the roaring exhaust. |

I still remember the eBike race in Indianapolis. Only race where I wasn't wearing earplugs in the stands. The announcers were making some pretty interesting observations. To me, the most interesting one was that unlike the other classes, the competitors in the eBike race did not have to sneak peeks at the Jumbotron to see where their competitors were on the track; they could CLEARLY hear the announcers telling them where they were! I imagine it'll be the same thing with MotoE. "Pit Board? We don't need no STEENKING Pit Board!" |

I hadn't considered that! That's really makes the experience a lot different for the rider... |

Just finished watching the MotoE qualifying. That was pretty cool! I didn't see the race on the DVR schedule for tomorrow morning, but according to beIN Sports it'll start at 3:55 EDT, so I've manually set the DVR to record then. |

I tried to like MotoE... I really did... I just don't think I can. It. Was. So. Boring. And slow. And apparently if you crash, you have to get away from the bike and let a special crew come and get it... because it might explode.....???? I have to ask myself, why are they even doing this? The bikes are over 500 pounds and slower than Moto3. |

I found it fascinating but then I own and ride an electric bike so maybe I'm biased. Remember, when Moto2 first came along, the bikes were lapping slower than the Supersport bikes that used the same type of engine. NOW look at where they are! It's a fledgling series. Racing will definitely improve the breed. Expect rapid development of longer lasting batteries and lighter weight components soon. As engineers become more familiar with them (and STOP thinking of them like ICE bikes) development should take off in leaps and bounds. I think things will really take off when it eventually becomes a multi-brand series and not just a single manufacturer too. I also love that futuristic whine they make as they go by. Very "Jetsons" sounding. Did you notice the chirping noise they make in the pit lane? That was a safety concession because everyone's ears in that series is so deadened by the constant roar of the unmuffled MotoGP bikes they'd NEVER hear the MotoE bikes otherwise. |

The whine is annoying. That is what I got from the MotoE qualifying today. |

Damn. I thought by manually setting the recording for 3:55 this morning I'd get the race but I got Larry King instead. Looking back at beIN's website, the race was broadcast on an alternate channel; one not carried by FiOS. Fortunately, FiOS will be broadcasting the race at 5:30 this evening so I'll see it after all. <spolier_warning:> As for the MotoGP race, I only watched it hoping for a repeat of COTA, but no such luck. At least Valentino got some points this time out. Crutchlow gets huge props for doing what he did with a broken leg! </spoiler_warning> |

Finally saw the MotoE race. I thought it was pretty exciting. Sad it was cut short due to a red flag but since it is a short race anyway every lap counts, and everyone was fighting hard from the get go. Good to see Bradley Smith at the front for once and it was refreshing to hear something OTHER than the Spanish National Anthem for the podium ceremony. Hey, even old man Sete managed a top 10 finish! |

Don't get me wrong, I've not given up on it. I just expected more... perhaps prematurely. Oh, and I think it's pretty lame to hope for somebody to crash whether you like them or not. KING OF THE RING!

I didn't say I wanted him to get hurt. I just can't stand seeing him winning all the time. It gets BORING. That's why I much prefer MotoAmerica these days. Although Beaubier and Elias trade wins fairly regularly enough of the other riders win as well so it's not the same guy winning every week. |

I guess the other riders just need to get BETTER at it. He's not on the fastest or most nimble bike... He's just the best. Possibly the best ever. He still has a few records to break. |

Father time might be catching up to Valentino. He has had a series of lackluster performances starting in qualifying. The old Doctor was never a great qualifier, but he was able to move up the field during the race. Seem like he can no longer do this. Keep in mind his teammate has been fighting for podiums at the same time. I hope it's not the beginning of the end for the Doctor! |

Don't count the Doctor out yet. Remember, Maverick just passed him as top Yamaha rider this last race out. At the beginning of the year, Maverick was nowhere. The old Tech3 guys are having a tough time adapting to the KTM this year. Syahrin is already without a ride next year. Wonder if KTM will keep Zarco? |

Is Lorenzo finished?? That's the consensus around the Anthony household, not sure what's wrong with him... it's like he's lost his fire. Speaking of fire... MARQUEZ is on fire... did you see that Q2 session??? Unfkkknreal! |

I am not a big fan of the Red Bull Ring, but there was some great racing over the weekend. All 3 races were entertaining, including Moto 2 that I usually skip. Loved Dovi putting Marquez in his place. Dovi pulled a "Marquez" in the last corner, but held on for first place. |

Loved Dovi putting Marquez in his place. Is this the place you're referring to?
Dovi got a well-deserved victory. It was hard fought, and he won. He did the exact same thing at this track 2 years ago, and Marc congratulated him then as well. Marc is, and always has been, a good sport. https://www.laureus.com/ambassadors/marc-marquez |

Of course, I am referring to Marquez's tendency to dive bomb going into the last corner figuring he will either knock his competitor out of the way or run wide. He has to be a good sport as he dishes it out more than anyone. (Message edited by fresnobuell on August 13, 2019) |

Point of order, Dovi tore off Marquez' brake lever guard in that last corner. Marc and Andrea laughed about it together after the race. Pole #60 today for The Great One. |

LOL. That's child's play compared to what Marquez has done in the past. Rins move was clean and speaks to the handling and tire wear characteristics of the Gixxer. Rins was climbing up Marquez's tail pipe the entire race and Marquez used his "park and shoot" technique to perfection (until the last few corners LOL!).. That was an entertaining race with a great conclusion. |
