Was riding in the Tucson area last week with my 2006 Ulysses, and the bike acted up again like it didn't want to run. Managed to ride it bucking along to a gas station. Gas level was at the point of the low light coming on. I was riding mornings only because it was so hot later. Gassed up, started up again, and all was well the hour home. Could it be a combination of low fuel and hot weather? It was the first long ride (629 miles) since the last two on which the bike came home on a tow truck. It's fixed now, and the ride is lovely again.

Yes, hot temps and low fuel can be an issue; the fuel pump is submerged in the fuel, and is thus cooled by the fuel.

How much fuel did you pour? Maybe the low fuel light was triggered too late?
