Several high-profile Senate Democrats warned the Supreme Court in pointed terms this week that it could face a fundamental restructuring if justices do not take steps to "heal" the court in the near future.
The ominous and unusual warning was delivered as part of a brief filed Monday in a case related to a New York City gun law. Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, Richard Durbin, D-Ill., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., referenced rulings by the court's conservative majority in claiming it is suffering from some sort of affliction which must be remedied.
POS politicians trying to pressure the courts to undermine the Constitution.
While I much prefer doctors to be well educated in any surgical procedure, I'm also aware laypersons will find this stuff unappetizing.
I wonder what training they are getting for New York where abortion in the fourth trimester is now legal? Claw hammers? Coconuts?
I draw my lines in other places. I do encourage the use of the truth, that Planned Parenthood is faithfully and successfully following their founder's dream.
If you like that dream or not says a lot about you. How many would openly support and demand taxpayer funding if they knew?
Arden, who was not involved in the Epstein autopsy, said that in general, a finding of a broken hyoid requires pathologists to conduct more extensive investigation. That investigation can include analysis of the location of the noose, how narrow the noose is, and if the body experienced any substantial drop in the course of the hanging. ... "If, hypothetically, the hyoid bone is broken, that would generally raise questions about strangulation, but it is not definitive and does not exclude suicidal hanging," he said.
Sure seems to raise more questions. They said he had to lift his feet to hang himself, so zero drop. A bed sheet isn't going to make a narrow noose likely to break bones. Hard to imagine, in a zero drop hanging, the noose tightening enough, low enough, to crush the hyoid bone.
I know they said they had no video of the inside of the cell, but I'm still waiting to hear about video of the hallway outside the cells. Certainly that video exists, and will tell if anybody went into the cell during the 3 hour period when the guards were "sleeping".
Why do people with dirt on the Clintons commit such questionable suicides?
From the reports of the folks that visited Epstiens Island, there are plenty of powerful people involved that have better access to the prisons than the Clintons...
Notice how much alike the lies in Europe are to here. The Enemy of the Leftists is far Right, Nazis, worse than Hitler!
As you bristle under the assault, remember, it's free speech that lets the evil pricks lie about you, but it's better than censorship, and YOU still have the right, and I think the moral responsibility to tell everyone they are lying pricks. The liars will do their worst to shut you up, but you've got truth on your side and no reason to be ashamed. Afraid, yes. Ashamed, never, if you are truthful.
I agree, and our withdrawal should be a very very aggressive one. The only negotiations needed are burning Taliban corpses. Scorched earth, mine every firebase, give the enemy nothing.
There is a joke going around that former FBI director James Comey decided not to prosecute Hillary Clinton because he found his suicide note in her files.
One survey found that 80% of Chinese citizens surveyed either somewhat or strongly approve of social credit system.
Now, I'm not going to debate whether it was a Chinese government survey...but here in the USA, people VOLUNTARILY do things like this already.
What do you think those "safe driver" gadgets are for your car insurance? They're OBDII dongles that log and transmit things like speeds, GPS location, throttle action, brake action, all sorts of vehicle data.
THEY'RE SPYING ON YOU. Literally. And...you INVITED them to do it.
Those are a relatively benign example, but you get the idea. People sign up for stuff like that on purpose, all the time. The talk in the article of life insurance companies looking at social media posts to determine if you're a higher risk (skydiving, rappelling, drinking/smoking) based on pictures or posts? That's all the more justification I have for having deleted my facebook profile years ago. Screw that. There's a real world out there, I'm gonna go live in it.
And not open myself up to further scrutiny or criticism.
Credit score isn't what this is - credit score is FINANCIAL. This system is based solely on how you ACT - where you go, how you drive, how you treat others, if you're nice or rude, if you jaywalk, if you pick bar fights.
Read the article in the link - these systems are every bit "Big Brother" - they're not about how you spend your money and whether you pay it back on time. That's all our FICO system does - "did he borrow it? is he paying it back on time? does his income level and current debt load allow him to borrow more?" That's all. Not once does "did he take his parents to the hospital" or "does he cross with, or against, the lights" come into play.
With these systems...it does. And bad scores keep your kids from getting into good schools, and keep you from getting the good state-sponsored housing, or living in the nice neighborhoods.
In China, a poor score means no car rental, no good schools for your kids, no loans, no train or plane tickets. House arrest in your town if you complain about the government. You want to go somewhere? Walk. And when the police pick you up?
You get mugged & call the police. Bad score? They might not take your call, or take your statement, or offer a ride to the hospital to fix that stab wound. You won't hear about that, if it happens, because the unperson can't post on social media.
Btw, This is being adopted in Australia, so we should get examples in a language we understand.
Dispute with neighbor? What then?
There's no appeal for mercy, or defence that you've been lied about, afaik.
1984 with full internet support isn't a chilling enough analogy.
The ultimate goal is to “allow the trustworthy to roam everywhere under heaven while making it hard for the discredited to take a single step,” according to the Chinese government.
That's from the article. That's the government's take on it's purpose. Basically, we have our thumb on you. If you don't praise it, it will really start pushing down on you.
Our version is being implemented with all the oversight that we see from Google and Facebook. Yes, that was meant to be sarcasm. There is no "opt out". There is no appeal. There is no oversight. You are indeed their product. If it doesn't send a chill down your spine, you just haven't been paying attention in the past few years.
The ultimate goal is to “allow the trustworthy to roam everywhere under heaven while making it hard for the discredited to take a single step,” according to the Chinese government.
Want to place odds on if you will be able to buy points if you are rich enough?
If you're rich enough, you just won't have your image registered for the facial recognition cameras on every corner and in every observed space. Literally "un-seen", just like their malfeasance is currently legally "un-seen".
