Got the neutral safety switch changed and now the neutral light works. Also can start the bike without pulling in the clutch. New problem started last night. with the bars turned hard right I get nothing with the key on. turn them left all power is good. Had a similar issue with my 06. Wire broken in the harness. Who knows which wire might be broken to lose all power? |

I don't remember colors, sorry, but...wiggle-test is the best way. Unwrap the loom at the steering head, and wiggle 'em one by one till the symptom shows itself. My '06 would lose gauges at full-lock. Engine kept going, just gauges would go. Turns out on my bike, it was the power wire to the gauges (not the ground wire triple-tap like most). Only a wiggle-test would make it reproduce for me. |

As Rat mentioned, check the ground wires on the front of the goose neck. Should have 3 wires going to a common screw. Sometimes these break inside the insulation and you can't see it so wiggle these first since they're easier to get to. If they are good then proceed to the loom as he mentioned. |

Depends on what is losing power, too. The 15amp fuse feeds unswitched power through a RED wire directly to the instrument cluster and the key switch. The key switch then provides switched power through the RED/BLK wire to the instrument cluster and the key relay. The instrument cluster is grounded at ground 2 which should be back by the battery and not at the steering head. Of course you could pull out the key switch relay and use a meter or light to monitor power at the terminal where the 86 pin on the relay would go. If you lose power here when turning full right then you can be sure it’s one of the two power wires. If not, then the ground might be more likely. |
