 First off, the REASON men sit legs open is biological. We have testicles. They require cooling to prevent sterility, foul odors, and discomfort. Women sit the same way to cool off their lovely parts too. I will grant that Victorian sex obsessed nutjobs may have imposed cultural pressure on women to sit "demurely" with their legs closed, presumably to reduce temptation for the men? like concealing clothing? or just that the Virgin Queen felt too "dirty" letting her clam dry out after lusting after the stableboy. I have no Idea, and don't blame me for that psychosis. There's more than one reason we left the Empire. Also, if you've read Huckleberry Finn, there's a great part about pretending to be a woman, and it touches on the subject. America's Greatest Writer is the most banned in Uptight circles for a reason. They fear truth and have serious sex hangups... Like this "inventor". My advice to her is to find a guy, or gal, I don't care, who is a considerate lover and doesn't treat her like crap. "Infringing on her public space"? "Her" and "public" are at odds there. "Her" space, fine. I wont sit in her lap, nor in the same chair as her. PUBLIC space, however...kiss mine. George Carlin summed it up: "don't like what you hear on the radio? It has 2 knobs on it. One changes the channel and one turns it off." Don't like what you see? Look the other way like I do every time I see 400# wrapped in 15 yards of spandex. It's PUBLIC. You do what you want, and let me do what I want. You dont want to be offended. I get that. Ratbuell, while they may be driven by sexual repression, it's not the sight of the crotch of your blue jeans that offends them. It's the space you take up. Apparently some "males" sit spread legged on the train & ? I haven't figured out if the offended are too shy to tell them to scoot over and make room, or if the males are just rude & refused, or what. I could comprehend rude jerks on a train, or being fed up with rude feminists & not offering gentlemanly courtesy in response. More likely the former. I'm an old school supporter of real feminism. Equal rights, equal pay, equal opportunity. Heck, I've fought dress codes & cheered the "top free 7" who went topless in the park in Rochester to protest the unfair laws that allowed guys to remove their shirts, but not gals. It's now legal for both sexes in NY. I admit the 7 were not my favorite body type to see topless, but that's true of lots of guys, including myself. But you have to accept that if you want to enjoy the more aesthetically pleasing, and taste is taste. Oh, and it's only fair. ( almost forgot ) So... long time supporter of women's rights, equal rights for everyone... Didn't see coming, guys claiming to be girls taking medals and ruining scholarships for girl athletes though. And the balkanization of sex really annoys me. Although I now know about many more people who I don't want to have sex with, so there's that. Not a fair trade, they weren't going to have sex with me anyway, so all I gained is more depression.  & I've been through the "it isn't fair that the male word in English, "man" stands for men & women". So... long time supporter of women's rights, equal rights for everyone... Agreed. Although I was raised to understand it all fell under the term "manners". I more prefer not to see gender as a decision-making device, one way or the other. PERSON. Period. Not that I agree with the concept that sex is more than binary - physically, genetically, you're either one...or you're the other. Period. But I don't think a man or a woman should be afforded any more or any less manners than anyone else. And that's part of my problem with quotas - they use their specific metric (gender, race, take your pick) to try and promote some sort of agenda. Sorry. Everyone gets the same consideration. Those who can do a job, GET the job. If you can't do the job...you don't get a pass based on your skin tone, nor on your equipment. Study. Work harder. THEN maybe you'll get the job. I will admit that I didn't think of the mass-transit seating thing. The combination of freestanding chairs in the photo, and the simple fact that I live in an area (rural) that doesn't have much (if any) mass transit...it simply didn't occur to me. But again - it doesn't come down to gender. It comes down to MANNERS. | ||

I stand ready to support any cause that makes sense for...better manners. Freedom. But the fact that English has sex specific words? It's just that way. Go use a language that doesn't. They exist. Chivalry means having a plan to kill everyone in the room, having the skills to do so, knowing that having such power means being responsible in it's use, knowing the obligation to use your skills to protect those who cannot, and Courtesy! which, incidentally, really helps to get laid. Expect that Bill to pass the House before October. (Sarcasm but partly fear of it happening ) On the one hand, the old fartz crowd have been pushing for drinking and smoking to be raised to over 21. I have a rant on this, but it's essentially jealousy and wanting to keep the bar the old guys took over when they were 20. "I can't hear myself drink over this noise". On the other hand, the weirdo lobby has created new sex related "rights" with no age limits. Exploiting suggestive lonely kids. Even schools giving hormones to children against the expressed wishes of the parent. Another case of incredibly difficult to determine maturity on an individual basis, And fitness to be a parent, and cause for murder, suicide, and mass shootings. ( the least discussed cause of school age mass murder is sexual frustration and cruelty ) In my not at all humble opinion, giving a nine year old hormones to stunt sexual growth is child abuse, although I admit that at some age the child can make an Informed choice as to sexual preference, but that's a very individual thing, nigh impossible to put a number on that applies to everyone. Hating the body you were born with, or being influenced by fringe advocates? Deciding you want to change your body drastically and permanently? Hard to believe a kid of, say, eight, can make an informed decision. Life is intense & very b&w at that age and peer pressure literally lethal. Incredible cruelty with no concept of consequences, is all too common in children. That intensity and desperation is Easy to exploit by evil adult perverts. I'm not in a vacuum here, I have a relative going through the perceived need to change sexes, and medicine can not do that yet. But it can mutilate and provide hormone "therapy", that I have observed in friend's relationships to be volatile and destructive. No easy answers. Serious issues with children's rights and protection. The deeper you dig, the angrier you get, and the less clear the subject is to the public. One of my biggest questions is who is sincerely concerned with helping children, and who is an exploitive monster? If that answer was easy, so would be the solution. | ||

I identify as an Stealth Attack Helicopter, but no medicine can do that yet. Maybe some day they'll be able to download my consciousness onto a hard drive like in the Netflix show Altered Carbon. Maybe somewhere between that and self driving, flying cars, I can finally become a self-realized RAH-66 Comanche. If that sounds ridiculous, I believe modern science is closer to making that happen than to being able to change a person's gender. Yes the CRISPR has been able to delete certain DNA strands but I haven't seen any sex changes yet. Though that may be around the corner, who knows. Scientists have been playing with neural interfaces and hard drives for, not sure how long, but at a minimum Elon is developing it, and DARPA has been using hard drives to increase memory in human beings.
