I purchased a second 1125R during the fire sale. The idea was to make it a track only ride, but for a couple reasons, my track day bike vision was short lived. Sooo, the bike has been collecting dust for a few years now and I need the garage space. The bike was never titled here in CA and I have since found out that registering the bike will entail paying sales tax as well as annual registration fees (with penalties) from the date I purchased the bike. This is through my own research, so I am all ears if anyone is familiar with the CA DMV process and I am not correct.
Basically I believe my two options are at this point--sell the bike out State or parting it out.
Of course I would like to sell it in one piece, but does anyone know roughly how much a parted out 1125R might fetch? It seems like ebay is full of 1125R parts, which isn't a good thing.
Hey guys, I haven't forgot getting some pics and a price posted up. The Holidays are a hectic time and I have the bike tucked away in a corner of the garage. it's going to take a bit of time shuffling things around in order to get proper photos.
Thank you guys for your patience while I got the bike pulled out of it's corner in my garage. It all ended up into a large project of cleaning out much of my garage, which was sorely needed.
To recap: I purchased the bike with the intention of using it as a dedicated track bike. Unfortunately, plans did not work out. It has about 3-4 track days on it. The rest of the mileage was put on the road while my other 1125R was down for repairs. This bike was never titled as my original intention was to use it as a dedicated, off-public road track bike. The fees, penalties and sales tax that would be required in order to title the bike at this time is cost prohibitive. AFAIK, the best solution is to sell it to an out of state buyer or part it out. There may be another solution to lien sell it to myself (or perhaps a buyer within the state of CA) and I will investigate this if I can't make a deal with someone for purchase here.
I am in possession of the Certificate of Origin from Buell in which the Texas dealer has signed over the bike to me. It also shows the initial transfer from Buell to the dealer. Of course, I would do the same for the purchaser here.
So now that you have a bit of the backstory on the bike, here are the details.
For sale: 2009 Buell 1125R 11,455 miles Price: $3,000
It has the Barker's exhaust installed (Stock ECM.) I have the stock exhaust available and I am willing to re-install the stock exhaust if the purchaser wishes.
As you can tell, the front fairing is not installed. This is because I added some headlight inserts to fill the holes left when I removed the headlight assembly for trackday duty. The front fairing will not go over the headlights with the inserts installed. Other things worth noting the right rear turn signal is broken (many cheap, good-looking aftermarket options available) and there are some markings on the left pod where my GoPro was mounted via suction cup and tethered to the coolant hose behind the pod (minor to the point where I couldn't get them to adequately show in pics last night).
To the best of my knowledge, mechanically this bike is in great shape. Thanks for looking and considering! Let me know if you need add'l pics or questions answered!
Hey guys, I receive a PM and I want to make sure I am not confusing anyone.
The bike is ready to go except for the front fairing, which can't be re installed in its current state due to the headlight insert. These were put in fill the holes when the headlights were removed for track day setup (which never came to fruition). If the new owner wants me to pull the inserts and re-install the front fairing, no problem.
The Barker's exhaust is installed (stock exhaust available) and the last pic is of an extra 1-piece fiberglass tailsection.
Don't mean to derail but where did you get the 1125R headlight inserts? I'm assuming they are to cover the headlight openings when the headlights are removed for track days.

Not a problem. Yes, you are correct about the function of the inserts. I can't remember where I got those. Been a while. I want to say the same place I got the one piece tail section, but since i can't remember where I got that either it doesn't do much good. I doubt they are being made anymore, but that's just a guess.
