Liam is a great example of projection, and some other mental illness that involves over sharing. When a friend got assaulted, Liam had dark fantasies about attacking black people. Iirc? Imho having vigilante fantasies about going "Death Wish" and shooting muggers is a natural reaction, and never acting on those thoughts, normal. Wanting to kill people who look like the people that mugged your friend? That's an immature, racist, thought pattern, to be ashamed of. Liam was ashamed, after some time of dark obsessions, and he had some idiot thing about confessing this to the entire planet. My opinion is he would have been better to have confessed to a Priest, ( most Christian churches have such customs, iirc ) or his shrink, the secular, popular, modern, method. Apparently, post modern, post guilt, post morals, idiots use Twitter instead, and publicly air their mental illness or bad judgment, instead of quietly hiding their guilt with traditional therapy. This isn't necessarily a generation thing. I'd never say I wanted to kill people for having blue eyes if a friend was mugged by blue eyes devils! That's an unthinking, racist, projection of the actions of human individuals on to a group based on prejudice, not logic. That was Liam's "crime". His public stand on guns, shows the same mental illness. I know a fellow with the same problem. ( unlike Liam, we've talked about this ) He'd kill people out of fear and lack of control & judgment, he thinks. So everyone would kill people out of fear and lack of control & judgment. So no one should have a gun. He projects his failings on everyone. Imho he also underestimates himself, dark and stupid thoughts happen to everyone, and the vast majority of folk never act on them. ( see also Sheep, Wolves, & Sheepdogs essay ) He just can't comprehend how anyone could carry a weapon to defend themselves and others from harm, and not be a loose cannon that would over react to their own emotions. This lack of realization that other people are different is a sad thing, and limits his thinking, horribly. He's a smart guy, just.... Wrong & blind to it. | ||

I often comment I do volunteer security service at a large camping event for a history education group. This doesn't mean I'm a power mad cop wannabe. I just like helping folk, and working security let's me ride a golf cart around and talk to people. Security there has zero power. Strict rules on having zero power. No weapons allowed, including club like flashlights. Since the population there is full (30%+) of martial artists and more heavily armed than an Afghan firebase, ( albeit with edged weapons, not cowardly, chemical propulsion abominations!  ) with a Sheepdog ethic of monumental proportions, wise folk figure "security" means calm folk who can summon help and talk upset people into also being calm. which means my stories involve funny people and not harrowing tales of violence. It's "security" in a land where nearly every adult dreams of rescuing a damsel in distress. ( or other gender rescue, personal preference ) So it's better than Disneyland, since helping happy people find their camp is the vast majority of my work there. | ||

You can spin it in ways to make parallels, but there's real differences. The Tea Party was fiercely peaceful and clean. The real issue is the way that informant mentality is basically Evil. Soul corroding evil. And those who are informants for dictators can pretend the excuse of police pressure or necessity. This female chose to be an informant out of spite. Her evil predates this petty action. We should pray for her soul, since in most faiths, she's headed for the Bad Place. |
