Greetings from Los Angeles. 04 XB12R firebolt Does anyone know a hack to either get rid of these bobble headed bolts or new fasteners that the headlight mount will fit in. I took some plyers to it but they didnt budge. I would like to take these bolts out and replace with a nut and washer. I heard a rattling in my front assembly, upon inspection I noticed the Hi-beam light assembly was not being secured tightly with this plastic and bobble head screw set-up.

This is the fix I did if anyone else has this issue. I got all the parts at Home Depot. Basically just drilled out the existing bolts (not fun or easy) Then put new bolts with matching washers and nuts with Plastic Spacers and Plastic washers. This holds tight and secure. Locktite (Blue) on all nuts to keep them from vibrating loose.

Also, In order to take those bobble headed bolts out you will have to cut the plastic on the back side down to the bolt (~1/4 inch down)with a hobby knife/boxcutter. The plastic is melted around the bolt so turning it Like i did with plyers wont get you anywhere. You will need to cut all of the plastic around the head of the bolt out, then you will be able to turn the bolt with plyers and pop it out. |
