No one has responded to my previous post and don"t want to miss this deal if it will work. I have two projects an 96 S1 and an 02 X1. I found a deal on a completely rebuilt 99 1200 with 06 heads [carb heads], I am aware of the of the front mount issue, my only concern is this a drop in or a nightmare? Don't want to miss buying the engine, hoping for quick response. Will this work on either or? |

The rear side of the 06 XL engine is completely different ,so it's not a easy drop in |

Got it covered, everything except the top end is 99. Cylinders and heads are 06. Pretty sure the 99 cases will accept the mount block for the rear. Front mount will have to be from Hammer performance to accomadate the 06 head design. Just looking for assurance before I buy. |

as long as the pistons were changed to match the heads, there’s no issue. The 99 cases will bolt right up to your 02 swingarm block. |

That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation Hootowl. Jugs, pistons heads all are from the 06 1200XL. thanks again. |

Thanks Hootowl figured since so many Buell engines wound up in [ugh] choppers that would be the case. Got the engine for the cost of parts + 100 abandoned at friends shop after rebuild. Whole top end is 06 bored 1st over. |
