Just a thought. I have a brand new '08 R in White. It is absolutely factory original and I will change nothing. No, it is NOT for sale. Of course, I also have a hot rod 08' and I drive that. |

I still think that’s a color combo Buell dropped the ball on - an 08 Buell with the blue frame/swing arm combined with the 09 white plastics is a killer combo. Not sure if spoke up earlier - 08 1125r here. |

1313, My frame is blue. I think black is better, but the White '08s had blue frames. |

2008 1125 R models ONLY came with the diamond blue frame with black bodywork. There were NEVER any white ones produced by the factory. Someone changed the bodywork after it was built. |

D Adams, Sorry buddy, your info is wrong. I bought my white '08 new from HD in the Netherlands. Nobody changed anything. It is as delivered by HD. |

Normally I won't post shit like this, but this was from an engineer that *KNOWS* for a FACT that the 08 frames were blue and ONLY came with black bodywork. There were ZERO produced from the factory with white bodywork. EVER. 09 or later, sure. 2008 1125 with a diamond blue frame, NO.

Domestic, yes. Guaranteed that the blue frame was '08 ONLY. White bodywork was '09 ONLY. Domestic market. How were they done for export? He did say Netherlands... Flipside is...the '09s looked very nice with the black frame, white body, and blue logos. Perhaps someone figured - as they sat on an '08 - that the white/blue body would look BETTER (and help them SELL) - that blue frame '08. But, for the domestic market, there were NO blue frames outside of the 2008 model year. Period. |

Stevel, I've seen dealers modify bikes before sale. My local dealer even mostly converted a Lightning STT to a Long to get it to sell. My CR was modified with the upright handlebars before I bought it too. Swapping bodywork or custom paint is common for dealers. |

In Europe all new vehicles require a certificate of origin or they cannot be sold for European use. Those certificates are only issued by the factory, not a dealer. This bike came out of the crate white with a blue frame. Perhaps it was a European thing. In any case, it is what it is. It should be easy enough to verify with the VIN. I would be happy to provide it. I have no idea how to do that though. (Message edited by steve=l on February 27, 2019) |

Your reference is a decode instruction for the VIN, but the VIN by itself does not appear to identify the color of the motorcycle. I suspect there is a build sheet associated with the VIN. Could that be true? If so, how do we see that? As a follow up, I just referenced the bill of sale and the HD issued Certificate of conformity. The VIN is 5MZHL04R683B02960 . The Certificate of Conformity states all kinds of things, but not the color. The bill of sale does though and clearly states 2008 / White. (Message edited by steve-l on February 27, 2019) |

Your VIN, HL04R, indicates that it is an HDI market VIN. All 728 of the HDI VINs for the 2008 model year were specified for "midnight black" bodywork color. |

Trubalreaper, sweet! Last couple years I've put together a Buell meetup at my place. Did some socializing, then a group ride, then some more socializing. This year's meetup will be in September. Hope to see you there! |

Bobup, the Oberon slave cylinder is an amazing upgrade that cut the clutch pull on my 1190 in HALF, even with the stock springs. Check this out (page 36) and happy riding! https://www.buellxb.com/forum/showthread.php?53018 -Well-Bye/page36&highlight=oberon |

"Last couple years I've put together a Buell meetup at my place." Bill, does that mean you're considering doing it again? If so, first, Thanks to you and your wife for opening your home to a bunch of people you hardly know, and second what can I, (and hopefully Debra too), do to help you? You guys did a LOT of prep for that event. |

Just replaced battery on machine I got new in 09. Leftover 08 from Dealer month or 2 before demise. Battery was 3yrs. Believed only yr old... have some mocheenes... This unit is superlative. Of course I feel that way with all bikes I have whenever I exercise one. I would sell in a minute for BIG BUCKS but, nuthin beats FUN for having a good time. 32 or 3k. Autographed by SLICK and his mechanic Jason Jones. A SUPER Bike ENJOY |
