No, the TSA has had thieves for years. No need for a shutdown. That may have to do with the people they targeted to hire. I looked into it at O'Hare. The benefit of this can be argued, but here's what I found. For me to work in the TSA at O'Hare, I would have to drive well past the airport and take a designated train back to the airport. Really sucks if you live West of the airport. To me it simply didn't make sense to commute that way. Far better to take other more convenient, lower paying job. It also meant that I had to leave my car in a lot that was in a pretty questionable area. It's great news for those who live in that questionable area though. Of course, you wind up hiring people from that questionable area. Obviously, great for the neighborhood. The downside is that you are hiring out of a base population that doesn't have the best moral characteristics overall. Do you think that moral character might follow some folks to work? It's silly to think it wouldn't. In short, you have to decide if the TSA is about security, and looking for the best possible workers, or if it is a social program. True it can be both, but not if you are really focused in the best possible security. I have no idea how this has been done in other cities, but it was clear what was done in Chicago. | ||

Not River Road station. That's a pretty nice area. I honestly couldn't tell exactly where it was, but it was quite a bit East of O'Hare. It was one of those things that really made you say "How the hell did they decide on this?". River Road would have made sense, geographically. | ||

That was my first thought when I saw the story on FNC today. "Smollett could not remember exactly where the attack had taken place...could not lead police to the spot..." If it did happen, I hope they catch the assholes who did it. But...as of right now? Not buyin' it. Sorry. | ||

I haven't seen if he was injured etc. It's not unusual to not remember the exact location of an attack. Especially in a snow storm. It's entirely possible he was the victim of an assault. Chicago, after all, is a bad place to be a black man. ( demographics and crooked government ) I do note that nearly all, but not all, hate crimes reported lately for people not labeled conservatives or Trump voters ( aka half the population, except those in the closet ) tend to be fake. But I'll also point out the unconscionable number of violent assaults on gays in places like Chicago. There is a lot of hate and machismo ( fear of being gay ) based violence against black gay men in black communities. And a stupidly high level of violence gay on gay. I have received mixed reviews on my theory about stereotypes from my lesbian friends, ditto the male gays. It is, that gay men tend to exhibit the characteristics of "toxic masculinity" in that it is a " screw them & leave" promiscuous culture that shows all the bad male stereotypes. While the Gals tend to go for more domestic couple based relationships harkening to female stereotypes. But I know several gay male domestic types, and have partied with promiscuous lesbians showing severe toxic masculinity attitudes.... And can't give numbers that "prove" that my stereotypes are typical or just my bias. I'd be cautious about doing a survey, or believing a small sample size. Bar culture is different from college culture and from church/interest group culture. One survey won't do. There are phenomena in college not seen later. It's a time of experimentation, and LUGs. And, I'm an outsider, so I'm biased and limited in my experience. Also occasionally jealous  I have a good friend who has awesome taste in hot women I could see falling for, but it never seems to last, and she also picks psychos. Often seriously hot, psychos. So we all too often have this conversation. "Where's "Joyce" ( fill in blank ) Oh? She dumped you? After trashing the house? Wrecked your car? Beat you up? Stole your money? ( pick one or more ) " Seriously hot psychos, though. Dang. | ||

I noticed back in my dating days that the "more hot" seamed to be proportional to the "more psycho". The best way to limit the psycho quantity was to seek out an increase in tomboy factors. The tomboy factors tended to limit encounters with wardrobes that screamed high maintenance. However, high maintenance can still present itself in the tomboys if you spoil them in the areas of 4WDs and high end firearms. Hello. I used to be able to discern the Lesbians from the Bisexuals. I doubt that much has changed. I haven't been near that scene in 25 years. I paid attention then because if I got hit on by a Lesbian, they were looking for a sperm donor. The Bisexuals would usually play the dating game. I wonder if there was just a crime committed, or if he got pushed around for mouthing off. I don't trust his claim to gayness. Though that is what he told Ellen. Not that it matters much to me. | ||

Shifting Stories Cloud Claims of Alleged Hate Crime Attack Targeting 'Empire' Actor Jussie Smollett This is a nice area of Chicago. Heavily patrolled, at least when I worked down there there would be literally a cop on every corner. This article claims the police have video placing the victim near the scene, but not of the perpetrators. I know it's been cold in Chicago, but a couple of guys wearing red MAGA hats on top of ski masks aren't really going to blend in that area. Add the noose thing, which he was still wearing 45 minutes after the attack, and you just have a whole lot of weirdness. Were the walking around with a ready made noose, or did they take time to tie it up during the attack? Also carrying a container of bleach! I guess what I'm getting at is that this is a really weird couple of alleged MAGA supporters, who seem to have been out looking for someone to attack, and just happened to find a famous(?) gay black guy. Then manage to disappear without a trace? Quite the set of circumstances that came together here! I wonder what the odds of that are? | ||
