My full-facer is a constant. Either my JR Ballistic textile jacket (cooler weather) or JR perforated leather jacket (warmer weather). Gloves, of course. Boots, always. Draggin' Jeans for grocery runs--full-on leather riding pants otherwise. I'd like to get some JR Ballistic overpants so I can wear regular jeans but still have protection--now they're available in "short" sizing! I dunno how guys ride in less--I feel naked without gear (yes, I've been down). No matter how hot. |

420, I guess you don't need much more gear when yer just standing there, but you might break a nail if you tip over, good gloves can prevent that. That 145 mph....was the rest of the bike moving, or is that just what the speedo said? Just curious.. |

I'm in South Florida. It's too damn hot to wear anything. I always were a full-face helmet...too many bugs not to. I wear jacket and jeans at night when we go out riding, but during the day it's usually just shorts and a t-shirt. Gloves are optional unless I'm planning on hitting the highway. iPod is almost always a necessity |

The mesh jackets work quite well in Florida. I have one and as long as I am moving I am as cool as I would be in just a t-shirt without all of the flapping. They are only good for one crash but how many of those do you want to have anyway? |

Zephyrhills is a lot cooler than Ft. Lauderdale. I have a heavy jacket and a mesh jacket. During the day, even the mesh is pretty hot. If I'm planning on riding hard, I wear it. |

yeah thats the ICON. its fits nice. I like it. The JR one is almost too warm most of the time, the ICON is a nice inbetween. I wear the mesh on really hot days but I'd still hate to go sliding down the road in it, better than a tshirt I guess. |

I find that I feel naked in my Icon TiMax jacket (grungy white color). For a vented jacket is sure is hot. Its getting close to 90 down here in Texas now and I still wear my Vanson leather jacket. What I ALWAYS wear - Arai fullface, Frank Thomas gauntlet style gloves (Im a dedicated fan of these from when I low sided at the track) and an over the ankle boot (Dr Martins, some HD ones I bought, or my Sidi's). If Im going to work or just putting around town -I will wear jeans. If Im doing anything else, I wear my vanson leather pants.

If you're able to get Icon is there a chance that you'll also be able to get Fieldsheer? What I really want is the Mach 2 jacket and pants. edited by easyflier on May 21, 2004 |

for mesh jackets, I highly recommend the joe rocket santa fe. I think it looks and fits better than the phoenix jackets. It is just a cool in the summer as the phoenix. |

What I'm really looking for is some gear with full circumference zipper, which Fieldsheer has. Let me get this straight, so far you can get Icon, AGV, Alpine Star and Joe Rocket. Did I leave any out? I Just looked at everything and none of them have a full zipper so I'll just go with the Joe Rocket stuff, sorry. Going to want a Reactor jacket instead of the Phoenix though. Bomber, thanks. I was thinking along those same lines. I just like to feel "suited up" when I ride but when I stop it's easier to detach a full zipper over that 8" thing in the back. Up at the open house there was a leather sewing vendor that seemed to be real good, maybe Dave can hook me up with them. They also have somebody that sews that stuff back in Dave's old shop in Waterloo. |

Speaking of gear, anyone have recommendations for a really good summer glove? I live in coastal SC (hot and humid as hell). I've been wearing Icon mesh gloves the last two summers, but they have seams in the palms that annoy the crap out of my hands on a long ride. They don't look like they'd be too great in a crash either. These: http://www.revitusa.net/acatalog/Summer_Gloves04.html look like the ultimate, but they're ~$100 a pair. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Hugh edited by whodom on May 21, 2004 |

If anybody wants a Joe Rocket 3.0 jacket, size XL in red, I have one that I've only worn about 6 times. It's only three weeks old. It's yours for $100 delivered. Steve. |
