Will 1125 forks fit 2006 Uly triples? How much shorter are they than stock? I already have a shock from a 2006 XB12Ss i could throw in. Will these match up? I already lowered the bike about 1" by shortening suspension travel, stiffer springs and pulling the forks up through the triples. Works OK but might not be optimal. Wondering if replacing parts might work better. don't want it to drag those low hanging Uly footpegs though. |

You'd be better off with Lightning Long forks, or even Lightning STT forks which were midway between the Uly and the "street" Lightnings... |

Thanks Ratbuell. I agree, but having watched ebay for over a year, I have yet to see any (except 1 pair from Australia at a crazy price). If anyone has any, please let me know. |

Also, are you talking about the 2006 - 2008 Lightning Long? It looks like it had the same forks as the XB12R up to 2008 and went to the same or similar suspension as the STT for 2009. |

The 06 SS Shock will bring you down to the same height as a regular Lightning/Firebolt. Any 43MM standard height forks from a Lightning or Firebolt will match right up. The 06-08 SS used literally the same Firebolt/Lightning forks, along with the Uly trees. 09/10 Lightning and Firebolt forks are black, if you are looking to change your appearance. The 2003/2004 forks are all 41MM so they won't work, as are all years of XB12SCG/9SL but they would be too low anyway. Also for what it is worth, the 1125R forks do fit in the 06 Uly trees, but I cannot advise you to do that. |

Thanks Froggy. I seem to recall a thread about your bike that was lowered using 1125 forks, but could not find it. do i have that wrong? Anyway that info helps. I wouldn't mind going down to 06 SS height except for concern the footpegs are too low. I don't want to lose the brackets that hold the saddlebags. I could get height adjustable footpegs but the pin is a hard to get size. |

Yep I am running that setup. As my bike was an 06 SS before I modded the heck out of it, it had the regular height lightning/firebolt forks. I was in an accident, and the 1125 forks were what I found first. A Buell engineer commented this when someone else asked about it -
quote:Guys, do not put 1125 forks into a late model XB set of clamps! Although the tube diameter is the same, the fork spacing is different, and although you may be able to pound them in, you will be bending the forks! If you machine off the lower fork legs you could do it then, but then you have some weird parts. Much better to get 1125 triple clamps.
That said, the 1125 triples do not fit on the Uly frame so that is not doable. And I've been running that setup without issue but I'm not riding it hard or anything like that. I hear you on the footpeg clearance, it is very easy to scrape pegs with the Uly hangers and Lightning suspension. |

When I bought my Uly it had lightning long forks on it. I rode around a day and drug the pegs constantly, and theres very little ground clearance if you want to go off road. I since swapped it back to Uly legs. The lightning longs are in my attic, and could be pryed away from me if anyone is seeking |

Thanks Vortec57. do you know what year the Lightning forks are from? I presume they would be the shorter 2006 - 2008 versions? I'd be interested in the longer 2009 if that's what you have. |

I don't know what year they are. I could measure them. I just dint like the bike being so low. They will need new seals, |

There is a part number sticker on the fork near the axle. J012_._A8 - Regular height - Firebolt / Lightning J012_._AE - Low height - XB12SCG/9SL (not compatible with Uly trees anyway) J012_._AS - XB12STT and 09+ XB12SS height J012_._AV - XB12XT J012_.1AK - 06 XB12X J012_.2AK - 07 XB12X J012_.3AK - 08+ XB12X |
