Well, its done. All but the tank lettering that is. See more at http://home.austin.rr.com/crumpley/buell.html Now for the fun part. These are real pics, not photoshopped. The color is not paint. Anyone care to guess how I did it?

That looks real nice! Did you have it custom made in orange surlyn by Buell Motor Co's XB body parts supplier? Mike. |

Good guess, and I thought of that, but no. Now for the biggie, the color change cost me 10 bucks plus a couple of days work. |

Captainplanet, You used model airplane covering. Something like Coverite. It shrinks on with a heat gun, and has its own glue on one side. Comes in many many colors. A REALLY REALLY neat idea! And a great looking job! mikeyp |

Mikep, No again. That I thought of, but didn't think I could pull it off with all the curves and such. |

Originally it was white. This is the original bodywork. |

Ok, a few more clues, since I have to leave soon for the weekend. I will give a comprehensive description of the process and more photos next week. Clue #1: You can mix the color to anything you like. Clue #2: Heat is involved. |

i kinda figured it was a dye, but i'm wondering how/if it will fade and stick when rained on or washed? amazing idea on a "cheap" color change. i'm VERY interested in more details. |

The rims are a tire stripe I believe, they are like a pinstripe for your rims. |
