Been here long enough to know that rough running in a sudden downpour and perfection as soon as it dried out probably means worn plug wires (new plugs and wires are on the way). My question is, what other areas should I check out while I'm under the hood?

It's an 08X, 32k or thereabouts, and stock aside from a race ECM.

Mine did it to. Wires into cam cover rubbed through on plastic chin fairing. Only made it quit when wet.

2008 and up don't get timing from the "points cover". They get it from the timing pickup near the front.

In the front where the road crap is splashing up from the wheel.
Sound like a thing to blast with a hose?

Haven't had a chance to give it a good look see yet, but I do know that the previous owner put plug wires on that were quite a bit longer than stock. My suspicion is that they've rubbed raw on something.

I raised the coil up 3/4" so my wires didn't hit the frame. That's where mine wore through.

I would put quite a bit of dielectric grease inside of the front spark plug boot when you get the new leads.
