After doing a refresh on the M2 last summer, http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/811769.html?1507381040 I've decided to give the Uly some love this year. I've already torn the tail section down and repaired all the mouse damage from previous years (who's the #$@÷%/€ genius that invented edible wiring?) Today I yanked the muffler off because I've grown weary of looking at that rusty mess. I've spent a couple of hours with a sander and drill mounted wire wheel getting it back down to pristine steel. My question is has anyone tried DuraCoat https://www.duracoatfirearmfinishes.com? I've read through a ton of posts here on various ways people have redone these mufflers with varying degrees of success, but I haven't seen this tried. I know guys that have successfully done firearms with it (that's it's original design), but it seams to me that if it can stand up to the abuse I've seen it go through, particularly on ARs where it is subjected to extreme heat and physical stress, it should work nicely on our beloved bash plate of a muffler. I'd love to hear if anybody has tried this. | ||

I had mine ceramic coated and it looks great. | ||

I sanded and painted with black paint for wood-burning stoves. Two coats. Takes two days to dry and you'll get a whiff of odor on the first fire-up. That was a year ago. Worked great. |
