Anyone have any tricks for what appears to be aleaky primary case drain plug. It doesn’t leak sitting in the garage, just when it’s running. There doesn’t appear to be oil running down the seam of the cases. The threads are not stripped, but I can’t tighten it any more or risk that.
You guys must know a few tricks to seal these things up? Would gasket sealer work in the treads? There must be a way to stop it.
Thx.

Put in a new O-ring.

Also recommended by Buell is thread sealant. It's a white paste that comes in a tiny tube.

The thread sealant is also nice and sticky to reduce the chance of vibration loosening. I use it because the chamfer in the hole seems to be too shallow and always cuts a new oring. Haven’t had any leaks there, and I still put a new oring in even if it does get cut.

Yep, thread sealer like pipe dope that does not get hard, and a new o ring. Only leaking when it gets hot is minor and should be easy to stop.

got rid of o rings years ago. got a large flanged 1/2 - 20 bolt and copper gasket setup form oreilly. loctite 565 paste , 10 - 12 ft. lbs. torque and been motoring all along. both buell and road king set up this way and life been so good! no leaks or having to deal with pesky o rings from dealer.
