Hello all. I was thinking about changing the old four bolt generator rotor prone to failure, for the later 8 bolt type. Has anyone experience of this on a mid 90's Buell motor? Seems common sense to upgrade the crank oil seal to the later type too while in there. Anyone have the part numbers to hand please? |

I've heard of it happening, but doesn't seem to be a common problem. Easy to replace though if you're already in there. I replaced my crank oil seal last year. Mine wasn't bad but I already had the rotor off and figured I would to be safe. Digging the old seal out was a pain, pressing the new one in was easy, but someone did loan me the official installation tool which made it super easy. While you're in there... put some RVT on the plug where the stator wire comes through the engine case, make sure your primary tensioner is the upgraded one, check for the clutch grenade plates, and replace your starter gasket. If you've never used one, I tried a 3M bristle disc on the primary gasket surfaces and it was wonderful, so much easier than scraping that old one off by hand. I used the finest grit of the 3 and it came out looking freshly machined. |

Thanks. I already have the updated chain tensioner to fit. I have a couple of part numbers now. For the updated rotor I have 32413-92A. A search on the web brings up quite a few pattern parts, not OE. What's the general opinion on the likes of Drag Specialties for stuff like this? A lot of places seem to sell that part. I have 35151-74A for the updated crankshaft seal. Does that look right? Thanks. |

Found a new old stock eight bolt rotor less than a hundred bucks. Happy days. |
