FiOS dropped beIN Sports right before the weekend! BASTARDS!! Just found out the local competitor Optimum/Altice is carrying them now, so guess who's getting a call this week? Oh, and they are also about $100 a month CHEAPER, too.
Jaime, have you considered Sling TV? It's $40 a month WITH the DVR function and the upgrade to the Sports Pak (where beIN resides). I moved from DTV where my bill was $120/month.
Sling isn't perfect and a bit rough around the edges (esp with the cloud DVR ), but it's alot cheaper and ticks all the boxes for my personally--which is motorcycle racing, golf, Bay Area sports & NHL hockey. I guess I'm lucky that Sling's limited channel lineup works for me so well.
My main issue is local channels are over the air and I have an antennae which I have to move around the room depending on which channel I am watching at the time. I don't mind this so much as I don't watch much OTA TV, but what I occasionally do miss is the ability to DVR local channels. ..like when the NHL Finals were on OTA NBC. It was inconvenient not to be able to watch the hockey on my schedule....
ALso, the Moto 3 race was off the hook at Brno. Moto 2 was supposed to be great too. I'll be watching it tonight.
I had a couple friends over after our morning ride and instead of watching the GP race, we should have watched the Moto 3 race. The entertainment factor for Moto 3 was incredible, as it is often.
Fortunately, beIN Sports had the final lap of the MotoGP race available on their website so I got to see at least that much. I use FiOS for pretty much everything: TV, Internet and phone. A similar package (without the gigabit upload/download speeds) is available from Optimum/Altice for $100 less than I'm paying now for FiOS, and they include beIN.
Package deals like that can save alot of money. My work pays for my cell phone, so I just need Internet and TV. I am sure if I had the cell phone expense, I would be leaning towards a package as well.
Right now I pay $40 for cable internet (60 MbPS) and $40 for Sling. I downgraded my Internet from 120 MbPS after measuring my D/L speed and finding the most I saw was about 90 MbPS. Also, my discount ended and the price got ridiculous ($80?) around the same time. Glad I did because 60 MbPS is plenty fast for two TVs simultaneously streaming HD quality Sling TV and a couple people surfing....
The ONLY thing that pissed me off is the terabyte cap that COmcast/Xfinity has. I have never hit it, but I have come close.
Looks like FiOS has come to their senses. beIN Sports is back just in time for tomorrow's "Yamaha slaughter" in Austria. Fortunately, it looks like Yamaha will be a LOT stronger this weekend in MotoAmerica. And now I can watch them ALL again!
Amazing weekend. Who could've imagined Yamaha apologizing to their riders and acknowledging that their bike sucks?? Wonder if anyone back in Iwata is falling on their swords?
Great battle for the finish though I'm disappointed Dovi couldn't pip that bastard for second place. Oh well... the fact that he DIDN'T win is good enough for me. Now... what happens NEXT year when he shares the garage with Lorenzo?
The "Old Man" still managed to be the fastest Yamaha, but he is rapidly losing ground to Lorenzo in the standings...
Not a big fan of the Austrian track. 3 drag strips connected by acute corners with a decent stadium section thrown in. I noticed lots of the riders were using underwraps on their hands...so an obvious testament to the hard braking nature of the track.
Moto3 delivers once again. Those boys ride the wheels off them 250s. And the championship is close too...so results actually matter. The rider who finished 3rd (second place for the Championship) rode even though he was only 7 days out of surgery for a broken forearm. Crazy. Good.
So the KTM team is calling on Loris Baz to sub for Pol Espargaro this weekend in Silverstone. Good on Loris, but I'm wondering why they didn't ask Chris Fillmore? He raced the KTM RC8 in AMAPro Superbike, and I would imagine has a good rep with the company? Fillmore also put KTM in the record books at Pikes Peak. Thoughts?
True, but they seriously aren't expecting him to win or anything, right? I'm just saying Chris could probably provide some decent feedback considering his experience with the brand (and his phenomenal success at Pikes Peak with them).
Remember, the FIRST time he ever rode Pikes Peak he not only won, he set the course record!
Fenati is a real piece of work, isn't he? Getting tossed off the VR46 team a couple of years ago for his behavior apparently wasn't enough. His career should now be OVER. Maybe he can qualify to be a greeter at a WalMart in Italy?
I guess he has SOME hope. A similar stunt by Niccolo Canepa which DID result in a crash didn't end his career. Of course, Canepa's stunt wasn't during a race, if I recall.
I'm not particularly a Marquez fan, but he earned all seven world championships. If he wants to celebrate by putting up a video game, why shouldn't he? I mean, it's not like he was extolling people to vote Democrat, or some other asinine venture.
I have to say that sitting in the lodge at TWoS beside Dave Despain watching the GP from Motegi was something I really enjoyed doing. At the end of the race, Dave's comment was, "He really is an amazing rider". And he is.
I don't think he's as good as Rossi was, say, 10 or 15 years ago, but he's at the top now, and he's earned the respect 7 championships gives him.
I just like getting under Fresno's skin... it's so easy to get his latent tendencies to "come out"... LOL
Marquez is the real deal. No doubt about it.
I think what I really like about him the most, is he doesn't cry about spilled milk. He's always been a good sport and congratulates others when they occasionally win.
