RAY, lots of laser in WA also. All the WSP use it. The fuckers... Good MOJO to Spudman! I can attest to the fact that life is better with a job, than without. And finaly...I got a cal from Stuart and the new cases arrived TODAY! So I could be riding by not this but next weekend! I will definatly be wobbleing all over the place for the first 500 break-in miles. Then the training wheels (Buell part # 666) are coming off sooner, Galen |

Lasers in BC too. Usually at the bottom of long, steep straight hills.....not fair!

Well ..... the job came through! I start work this Monday as the Senior Verification Engineer for a company called Comtech AHA Corporation! That's the good news at least. But like I mentioned earlier, it ain't local. I will be relocating, and my family at the end of the school year, to Moscow, ID. That's right, the spudman is being replanted in Idaho! I will no longer post in this area, but will use the popular ID section. Oh wait a minute, that is here, guess I can't get too far away. Not sure if I can squeeze SPLASH into my chaotic future, but will try. Thanks everyone in Buell land for your positive thoughts. Now lets focus on pdxs3t to find work soon! S1hooligan Sorry you missed the meeting yesterday. Was hoping the S1 was back together to see you at last Sunday's ride. We swung by Cris Kelps house and pulled him away from the lawnmower. He was nice enough to take his Vincent out and ride down to Canby with us. Damn that Vincent is sweet! It has a buellish sound about it. Thanks Cris for the experience. Ray, My son was shot doing 49 in a 35 last month with a laser. Not good for the old mans blood pressure or insurance rates.

Ray, all respectable radar detectors also detect laser these days and the thing about laser is that they have to be stationary to use it. I have been using a radar/laser detector for years and have gotten a ticket about every 3-4 years, each time from instant-on radar coming around a corner in the other direction. The detector has saved me several times, although I do most of my speeding on back roads and cops tend to use radar and laser in towns or on the freeway. I use a Bel detector (made in Canada!) because it is the only one, as far as I know, that has an earphone jack, which I consider a must. One of my friends uses a Valentine, which is supposed to be the best (it tells you what direction the signal is coming from). I believe he suctioned a microphone to the speaker of it and wired it into his helmet to replicate an earphone. Ferris, I will talk to Linda about Octoberfest, we have a campervan and may haul the bike down to do some rides with you... Spudman, sounds like a Bueller trip to Idaho may be in the future... Loni, there are some great roads into Canby... you can come in from the north on Mountain Road and take the ferry across the Willamette, it's 50 cents for bikes. So get out the "Thomas Guide" for Portland and explore. I've found that map book invaluable for exploring backroads in the area. All - I'm having a half century birthday party on July 3rd here in Bend. We are renting a local club, will have beer and wine and food - live music and wild dancing. Everyone who knows me is invited and welcome to bring friends. Since we will need to get an idea of how many will attend I'm asking that if you want to come please drop me an email at mginbend@yahoo.com and I will send you an invite with all the info. Ride On! ;-<> mg |

Mike, I'm sorry that I'll be out of the area on July 3rd and won't be able to attend your birthday party. It sounds like a good time. Tell Linda "Hi" Thanks for answering some of my questions about this radar/laser stuff. Allow me one more question if you will. I live in fear that somewhere on the back side of Mt. Rainier I would go around one more corner and come headlight to headlight with some oncoming WSP guy equipped with instant on radar. Please tell me that the "fixed-in-place" radar units that those cruisers have in their front and rear windows are the always on variety. Please tell me that. Pretty please! I can't really picture the Trooper driving around all day with his finger hovering over the radar on button on the off chance there would be a speeder just around the next corner. |

right-o Bob, it always pays to be aware of an exit (escape route) off those twisty mtn roads. Ray, the WSP hit me around a corner on Hwy 12 near White Pass a few years ago. The straight pipe on my Buell may have had something to do with him being ready for me before I detected him... mg |

Roc, I am waiting on the weather to decide but willing to brave a few showers. Suggest meeting as an informal group at destination HD at say 9:30 - 10:00 and going from there. Regards, Jim |
