Are there any tricks to removing the shroud above the rear shock to lift the shock out through the rear subframe? The service manual doesn't mention it. Feelin'foolish, but getting nowhere. | ||

I cant imagine its any different that an 06, I take it out the bottom | ||

That shroud is part of the "comfort kit", and is not a stock part. It's a bit of a struggle to install. Do a search on comfort kit or comfort kit install, and you might find tips that might help. | ||

The only tip I’ve seen is to warm the plastic to make it more pliable. Suggestions range from parking in the sun with the seat off to using a hair dryer/heat gun. Good luck. | ||

OK. Thanks for all the input. Arry, yes it is part of the comfort kit, installed by the p.o. Dean Adams get the award for most helpful tip with removing the four bolts to let the rear subframe sag away, provided everything else is supported. From the FB forum. | ||

i ended up unbolting the subframe front and back so the two silver coloured arms could be separated enough to move the battery tray and the heat shroud. I was tempted to leave the heat shroud out when I put it back together. | ||

there is a link around here that tells to cut it in half before reinstall to reduce problem with removal. it works. did years ago. but still think loosening of rear sub is required |
